A 3-month-old German shepherd puppy is being blamed for driving a family car into a Massachusetts pond.
The dog's owner, John Costello, said he took the dog for a walk around Bolivar Pond in Canton on Sunday, then got into the car and started it in preparation for the ride home. That's when the puppy jumped in with him.
"The dog just jumped into the car and hit the gear shift ... when she slammed it into drive she fell on top of the gas pedal,"

It was George The Bushcat’s fault.

Maybe this story doesn’t sound just right;like we’re only hearing part of it. The brake/shifter interlock has been in place for many years now. Is there a pic of the car?

How would you hit a dog on the nose with a car?

You know, it’s possible the man had HIS foot on the brake so she could engage it.
Actually, I don’t even know if this was a manual or auto, or where the shifter is.

That would be an insult to the dog. At least he was sober, didn’t leave a woman in his car to drown, walk past inhabited houses, go home, call his lawyer, and finally notify authorities several hours later.

BS. He had to have his foot on the brake to shift the car into gear. I’m not buying one bit of it

After transporting hundreds of German shepherds for my rescue, I have learned to secure the dogs by crate or harness before you start the vehicle.

So? The guy got in, pressed his pedal to the floor and then the pup jumped on it the right way. Or maybe being flustered by the dog in his way, he pressed the pedal at the right time.
What does it buy him to lie?
Anyway, weird things do happen.

Weirdly enough, that cat looks like it’s a more capable driver than at least half the drivers on the road.

sounds like insurance fraud. unless as mentioned above, the dog put his foot on the brake or pushed in the button on the gear shift as well
