The findings revealed that cat lovers scored significantly higher on intelligence tests compared to their dog-loving counterparts. However, dog owners tend to be more energetic, obedient and outgoing than cat lovers, according to Live Science.

Researcher Denise Guastello, a psychology professor at Carroll University, said at an annual Association for Psychological Science meeting in Chicago, that the average cat owner is more reserved, perceptive, tolerant and better at breaking rules than the average dog owner.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed our cat photos.

All our cats are very affectionate and loving.
But oddly enough, the alley or part alley cats are more affectionate.
The silver Persian Chinchilla and the Bengal can be rather independent and aloof at times.

The Chinchilla thinks she is the queen of the house. She’s terribly spoiled because everyone who comes in fawns over her because of her beauty.
(She is the same breed as the Fancy Feast cat in commercials)

But she does NOT rule the house.
Oddly enough, the small part Persian grey tabby, Katy, rules them all.
She is the alpha cat and the other cats don’t mess with her. LOL.

Once she got mad at the big, black tom, (almost twice her size) whipped his butt, and kept him blocked in a bedroom for hours.
Every time he tried to come out, she’d box him one.
We finally had to pick her up and put her in another room so he could come out.
Never did find out what the fight was about. LOL

It’s a cute little study of 600 college students, which they admit if you read down the page. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/29/cat-people-dog-people-intelligence_n_5412245.html?utm_hp_ref=emotional-intelligence

And look at the fun we’re having with it—no need to get too judgmental.

I love cats and dogs. I also love dogs and cats.

Fighter pilots? Meh. If you’re looking for testosterone, better go talk to the tip of the spear boys. There you will testosterone enough that would make any pilot seem feminine in comparison.

I don’t know if this is true or not. I’ve had the honor of sharing my life with two wonderful kitties. I’ve also been asked to join Mensa, and I’m a natural blonde, so maybe that negates this theory.

It might have some truth, cat owners tend to be very creative types.

Authors like cats because they are such quiet, lovable, wise creatures, and cats like authors for the same reasons. ~ Robertson Davies

Thanks for this. I have been an author, now starting a new book, and my cat really and truly loves me. I suppose he'll love me whether or not the book succeeds, which is more than I can say for some friends…and perhaps even myself.

I use to have a high IQ,as well a high EQ. But since I have own cats, those measures were erroneous.

Love that ‘herding cats’ video. Very cute.
Thanks for posting.

Fortunately, we do have a very large house and all our cats are well mannered and never forsake the litter box.

I had to laugh at my 89 y/o grandfather (who lives with us- and still sharp as a tack) a while back. I asked him (he’s always buying lottery tickets)
what he would do if he won the lottery. He said without even a pause, ‘Buy more cats’. LOL

We’re a large family (four young brothers living at home),
and fortunately, we all love the cats.

We like dogs also, and have several yard dogs.

Never had any problems with parasites

The vast majority of people affected with toxplasmosis are not aware of it. That's about a third of the world's population.

Some very smart and creative people made those remarks.

However; I love the one by Winston Churchill:
‘I like pigs.
Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us.
Pigs treat us as equals.’ LOL

I like cats, they are nice pets...

but....... how can someone who keeps an animal that lays there watching a burglar steal your stuff be smarter than.......... someone who keeps an animal who will bark and warn you that there is a burglar (at the least) or rip the burglar’s throat out (at the most)?

I am not seeing how cat owners are smarter than dog owners.

This alleged “social science” does endless harm and needs to be ridiculed at every opportunity. Using college studies as a sample population is very poor experimental design.

I also like cats and dogs, and dogs and cats ;-)

Love the pics on your homepage of the cats! So KATY is the alpha cat! Is that your cat in the video escaping the dog by riding the surfboard across the pool?

Ooop ... nevermind, got you confused with the guy/gal who posted the video of the cat riding the surfboard across the pool. Love the pics on your homepage — all of them, not just the cats!!!

I like them both. So what does that say about people like me?

You are smart AND obedient.

Yes, Katy is the alpha cat- and the others don’t mess with her.
Never could figure this out because she is so gentle and affectionate with us, and since she is the smallest of the lot, how all the other bigger cats could be afraid of her is beyond me.

No, that wasn’t Katy running from the dog on the board.
(she would have whipped his butt LOL)
