A 43-year-old Griffin police officer and father of seven was shot and killed outside of a Waffle House early this morning while working an off-duty security job in full uniform, authorities said.
Three suspects are in custody after the shooting death of Officer Kevin Jordan, an ex-Marine who had been with the Griffin Police Department for four years and often worked security at the restaurant on weekend nights, police spokesman Mike Richardson said.
The altercation began when two men and a woman who allegedly caused a disturbance at a Waffle House on U.S. 19 were asked to leave the restaurant around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Richardson said. A fight broke out after Jordan got them outside and tried to handcuff 28-year-old Chantell Mixon, he said.
Jordan was on the ground trying to restrain Mixon when another man shot him at least three times in the back, and one of the bullets cut through Jordans bulletproof vest, Richardson said. Police identified the suspected gunman as 30-year-old Michael D. Bowman.
Jordans brother, Raymond Jordan, was in the parking lot when the gunfire erupted and shot Bowman, Richardson said. The brother is a civilian who had a permit to carry a gun and was at the restaurant to visit Jordan, police said.

FReepmail me or KoRn to get on or off the Waffle House Ping List.
“Chantell”?
Okay.
So sorry for the cop and his family.
Ugh. Poor man.
I never would have guessed that there was a Waffle House ping list.
I think I would avoid restaurants that require armed security.
Cold-blooded murder, for sure.
Am I the only one who is learning to hate my own country? I’ve grown so alienated from the violence, political correctness and government control, I don’t know where to turn...
Photos unexpectedly seem like white perps.
I just hate the human race. Saves time.
I used to love my fellow Americans. Well, I can still love our beloved military.

Any particular reason for the keyword?
When a cop commits an atrocity, I speak out about it. When an atrocity is committed against a cop, I speak out it. If the facts are as given, this situation is the latter.
That is a great time saver...thanks!
I hate you.
Rip, Mr. Jordan.

I can't speak for Tiger's Eye, but I use the keyword to alert people to good and bad stories about cops.
Any particular reason for an Admin Mod to question the use of a particular keyword...on an open thread?
