What was your first car?
Posted on 05/31/2014 7:27:43 AM PDT by virgil283
My first car was a Belair, four door with the big six. It might have been rusty but I waxed and polished it just the same......

‘52 Buick Roadmonster with straight eight, 4 bbl carb and Dynaflow 2 speed slushbox. Got it from the old lady down the street after she crashed it into the side of her house, drunk as usual. She gave it to me and even paid for a tow truck to remove in from the crawl space access pit that eventually stopped the tank from destroying more of the house.

No. Actually not too bad a car, unless you had to look under the hood (which you did after every puddle, as the spark plug wells would need to be drained...)

1961 Ford Falcon. Hey it was a gift from my departed aunt. Actually my first car was a 56 ford but it never saw the road.
Then I actually bought one of these. 1964 Falcon Sprint.
But didn't have that for long until a school bus totaled it while parked in my driveway.
I could go on and on.

Seventeen year old 1966 Mustang— 289 w three speed and Pony interior. Had a bunch of bondo under new paint a couple of years before I bought it but they’d not done floor pans so feet would be wet!! Replaced a year and a half later with a 1968 Barracuda-— there isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t wish I still had the Cuda!!

1966 E type roadster
1966 E type coupe.
1965 Austin-Healy 3000 (needed floor repairs)
1972 Norton 850 (just waiting out in the garage for a chance to kill me.)
1972 Kawasaki 3 cyl 500 (grim reaper orange)
1967 BSA 441 Victor. Big thumper.
Lately, I added;

Me, too! My first car was a 1972 VW Beetle (bright yellow). It was $1900.00 brand new! Gas was 18 cents a gallon, and I could fill up for $2.00 or less! Wish I still had that car!

Har, yeah, really! And, 3 bucks, cheap! How long’s it been since we’ve seen floor-mounted dimmers in cars? That’d just confuse people now... ;)
