A California woman says Veterans Administration hospital guards beat her husband to death after he waited four hours for dialysis.
Norma Montano says her husband of 44 years, Jonathan, died of a stroke on June 11, 2011, after he was beaten and had his carotid artery stomped by VA guards. Montano says the hospital also lied to her about what happened to her husband.
Montanos son and daughter are also plaintiffs in the suit.
Montano says he husband was tired of waiting, but when he tried to leave and go to another facility, he was told by the nursing staff not to leave.
"Jonathan Montano told the nurse that he was leaving and was going to the VA Hospital in Long Beach, California, [and that] he wanted to leave the needle apparatus [a shunt] in his arm, so they wouldn't have to put a new one in at the Long Beach VA Hospital, the complaint states.
When he insisted on leaving, the staff at the Loma Linda, Calif., facility called VA Police.
"The summoned VA Police Department police officers then stopped Jonathan Montano from leaving the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, by tackling him to the floor, slamming his head on the floor, and kneeing and stomping on his neck, and otherwise brutalizing and restraining him, the suit says.

And just think—your tax dollars paid for the hospital police to beat a veteran.
They had to use whatever means necessary to keep him there for his own good.
And just think - your tax dollars will pay for this to happen under Obamacare.
Hear You! Glad to know you!
This is beyond belief. Infuriating.
In order to save the patient we had to kill him.
Another source of same incident:
“Lawsuit alleges veteran beaten to death by VA hospital police”
http://www.examiner.com/article/lawsuit-alleges-veteran-beaten-to-death-by-va-hospital-police
The source for that coverage appears to be “Raw Story”.
There better be video or eye witnesses for this colorful story to go anywhere.
You say po-tay-tos, I say po-tah-tos.
And that is the rub: this is one incident which happened three years ago.
The very nature of this story should have been front page news at that time.
The real question isn’t (sadly) “where is the video of this incident?” the question is: “how many more such incidents happen-—and the family members or loved ones never learn the truth?”
The article notes a nurse who witnessed the attack and spoke up.
Isn't that just beautiful? Now the VA has another way to kill you. Death from no VA medical care, or death from VA minimum wage security guards. Yes, just F'ing beautiful. You are right. Get ready, it's coming. I think a lot of people are going to die.
The “government” will now be able to tell everyone when their time is up. Reminds me of an old “B” movie from back in the 60s. I never thought I’d see it but it’s here.
Reminds me of the Movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”
Once upon a time several years ago, I learned of some mistreatment at a VA hospital. Many soldiers were mistreated. It just so happened that the soldiers in our area had a special event going on, so...I talked to THEM :)
They checked it out, AND managed to fix it!
They get better treatment in prison anyway.
It is illegal to carry a weapon on VA property. You will be arrested, and it won’t be pretty.
What is the ping list? Am I on it?
I can’t find a copy of the action.
