The original is as good as it will get. The tears in the rain scene is the single best cinematic death scene ever made in my opinion.

As I understand it Dolph Lundgren ad libbed it.

That was Rutger Hauer, not Dolph Lundgren.

If you haven't seen them, there are a couple of interviews with Rutger Hauer on YouTube where he talks about that role. He is an interesting guy.

Man Dolph should’ve got the Oscar for that scene cuz not only was it well acted he also did a perfect impersonation of Rutger Hauer at the same time!
