Wow — look at how many are universities
Interesting. Mostly Universities, Hospitals, and Military bases.
Billings Clinic, never heard of it. But I’m from Western Montana.
I’m afraid that I haven’t heard of Doernbacher Children’s hospital either.
I would think the states’ government would be the biggest employer in many if not most states.
Wow. Out of all fifty states, the only companies that do ANY manufacturing are Sikorsky (CT) and Microsoft (WA), and the Microsoft tangible stuff (xbox, mice, Surface tablets) are made overseas. It is also interesting that the Missouri’s biggest employer is a Jewish hospital while NY’s is a Catholic hospital.
It does show how much Government has dominated the economy; and conversely the fallacy of the Left demonizing various Big industry companies as dominating the economy and politics. It also shows why it is so hard to cut government spending, especially in academia and public medical facilities “(filled with government unions) - who wants to vote themselves out of a job?
University of Florida is a larger employer than Disney?
I haven’t checked any others, but Tennessee is wrong. FedEx is number one here.
An airport in Alaska employs 9,000?
Maine University of Maine
Location Orono, ME
Number of Employees 8,000
Totally wrong. The University of Maine at Orono only has 11,000 students. The academic staff is 720.
There is the University of Maine at Orono and there is the umbrella organization of all public universities in Maine: University of Maine System. UMS has 5,590 employees system-wide according to their website.
Our largest employer is Hannaford Bros. Co., a supermarket company with 7,500+ employees. I don’t know if all of these employees are in Maine. The largest employer that I can tell is primarily Maine employees is LL Bean’s based in Freeport Maine with 7,000+ employees. Bath Iron Works in Bath Maine with 5,000+ employees is the largest manufacturer in Maine.
Darn straight this map is innaccurate. For example New Jersey’s largest employer is listed as Gabriel Taxi & Limo Service......total BS. This company only services a small part of New Jersey and there is no way on earth it employs 25,000 people.
New Jersey is headquarters to many large pharmaceutical (e.g. Johnson & Johnson) and insurance (e.g. Prudential) companies. There is no way a local taxi company employs more people than them.
If you Google new Jersey Largest Employers, Wakefern Foods (36,000 employees) and Rutgers University (28,700 employees) are the two at the top of the list. Gabriel Taxi is not on it anywhere.
This map is a joke.
That’s what bipartisan socialism looks like. You’re seeing a consequence of anti-competition, NIMBY/”real” estate regulations against building and producing.
Broadview Networks used information from CareerOneStop, a database sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor.”
U.S. Department of Labor = all I need to hear.
Obviously total propaganda / BS.
Bogus. Hill AFB and the University of Utah employ more than 20K each.
I think this article is completely. In many states, the DOD would be the largest employer.
I am not sure if this map is correct. The last time I saw a couple of years ago the largest employers in North Dakota were Burlington Northern Railroad and United Health.
I don’t see much on this map making sense. Walmart and Banner Health in AZ are both over 30,000.
I could check every state and probably find them all wrong.
Location Daniel Island, SC
Number of Employees 55,000
Why have I never heard of this group? Daniel Island does not have 55,000 employees. Is it possible many are employed out of state?
