It's the weirdest story I read in a long time, a few excerpts can't do it justice.
Recommend reading the entire article and feel free to comment about Kenneth, David's Father... (or anything else in the article)
Be sure to go to the article and at least look at the pictures. (not to worry, not a weird site, it's the NY Post)

I didnt want my friends to know that my moms a naked jungle woman eating tarantulas, he says today. Don't we all go through that awkward phase in life?

I swear to G*d this sounds like one of those whacko stories you hear while half asleep on that midnight UFO/Yeti/Black helicopter radio show.
Just wow..!

I think I’d rather live in the Amazon jungle than Philadelphia too.

The father comes off as dreadful, but that article, which I guess is an excerpt from a book, was a little choppy.

There was a 15 minute segment about this on CBS Sunday Morning about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Thank you for posting. I remember watching the documentary about this couple years ago. I remember the Mother went back to the jungle and at the time the documentary just ended there. I always wondered what happened to her, now I know.

The father is a self absorbed jerk—and would be the same thing in any culture.

When civilization as we know it finally pukes its guts out, a lot of folks will wish they were in the jungle with that tribe.

The father is a self absorbed jerk I posted before reading your post. Great minds think alike.

In 1978, he (David's Father) was offered Yarima, who was then about 9 to 12. Good was 36. He saw no real problem. Guess he was Muslim when Muslim wasn't cool?

A self absorbed jerk who “raped” a 12 year old girl.

Saw that Kev.
The son seems to have more humanity than the Dad.

S, he rationalized it by saying he could not criticize their culture. When in Rome, etc.
He fooled himself thinking she was 13-that made it more acceptable. He was 36.
