The word is “strait-laced,” not “straight-laced.”

Is there such a thing as a professional journalist anymore?

If this is true -- and I will go look -- then I give the author a pass. I would have made this mistake.

Great catch Padre.

I’m a usage stickler from way back and I must confess that I didn’t know this one.

Or if I did I managed to forget.

Cheers!

No, they're all strippers on the side.

According to Merriam, 'straitlaced' (no hyphen) is the original, but 'strait-laced' and 'straight-laced' are both acceptable replacements.. Oxford (which agrees) consider 'strait-laced' to be obsolete, replaced by 'straight-laced'.
