Schoolboys in France stirred up gender norms when they eschewed pants last week. But men in skirts shouldnt be a provocative sight it should be a choice as normal as women in pants.
Last Friday, male students and teachers in Nantes, France launched a campaign to fight the sexism that is plaguing societies across the world through their clothing. The 'Ce que soulève la jupe' (or Lift the Skirt) movement encouraged boys across 27 of the northwest citys schools to sport skirts to class instead of trousers.
We noticed that in a lot of high schools in our region, there are lots of cases of sexism and discrimination, so we thought we should do something to change that, and so we came up with the idea, the campaigns organizer, Arthur Moinet, told EuroNews.
Conservative citizens, however, called the skirt-wearing boys scandalous. Olivier Vial, president of the conservative UNI party spoke out, saying, Well do any old nonsense in the name of equality This move is inspired by the Day of the Skirt, whose original aim was to allow women to express their femininity in environments where it was often difficult. But this is just denying feminine and masculine identity.
While Moinetand the boys who participatedshould be applauded for their efforts to show solidarity and raise awareness for the discrimination faced by women, the response uncovered another form of social discriminationthe intolerance of men wearing skirtsand short shorts, for that matter. Over a century ago, women pushed gender boundaries by wearing their male peers' pants (gasp!). But today, no one bats an eye as we freely strut around in androgynous clothingsomething that is now a staple of the female wardrobe. So why is it so unusualand readily criticized--for the reverse to occur; for men to embrace womenswear?(continued)

You will have a long wait, my friend...
I’ll be kilt before I wear a skirt!
Like the expansion of the universe, insanity is accelerating.
Right. For example:
This move is inspired by the Day of the Skirt, whose original aim was to allow women to express their femininity in environments where it was often difficult.
So the original "Day" was absurd, the parody is somewhat more absurd, and the author's thesis is just dumb.
Only True Men Wear Kilts Laddy!
And True Women Too!

Gender roles and norms now equal sexism. SMH
I see men wearing skirts as the fashion trend suggestion that shows up the most often every so many years and never catches on. It’s been tried and failed nearly a dozen times in my lifetime that I can remember off the top of my head. I’m sure it’s been attempted more than that but by the time any article could be written about it, the trend would be over.
I have an 8 yard dress kilt and also a utility kilt with cargo pockets. It’s fine. You better have sturdy legs with bonny knees though. Men with twig legs should avoid kilts and shorts and stick to long pants.
In a generation or so, the boys will be wearing djellabahs and the girls (who won’t go to school) will be wearing abayas.

Skirts - for men who have misplaced their testicles.
I could see the possibility of having to wear skirts, but like the ‘legendary’ kilt wearers, for extreme ‘comfort’, going Commando should be the norm.
So, (as cited by another poster) men with knobby knees, spindly legs and ‘small packages’ need not apply.
I also would imagine that a ‘skirt’ worn by a person sporting a sizable overhang would also look somewhat ridiculous BUT the combination of all 4 would take the pressure of each one individually.
Only “skirt” I wanna see on a man is a kilt...Joe you still have that pic?
I would love to escape this nightmare
Did they tranlate that right with the word “skirt”?
What about a guy wearing a KILT?
I do not agree with the idea of the students wearing ‘skirts’, however, a ‘kilt’, when viewed by those who are not knowledgeable, might be thought of, as a ‘skirt’.
I would watch the physical correction of that observation, with popcorn.
OK. But don't hold your breath waiting.
Not sure which is worse. Men in a “skirt” or men wearing make up which is totally weird as well.
hmmm...it would certainly be easier at the urinal...
