Word For The Day, Monday, 5/19/14
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
connubial; adj.
of marriage or wedlock; matrimonial; conjugal: connubial love.
Etymology: 165060; < Medieval Latin connūbiālis, Latin cōnūbiālis, equivalent to cōnūbi ( um ) ( cō- co- + nūb ( āre ) to marry + -ium -ium) + -ālis -al1
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Thank you for the good grade.
It wasn’t so bad. I got a good job where I met my current husband of nearly 35 years.
Finally, true connubial bliss. ;-)
and you were probably a much better judge of character by that point. glad to hear you are happy!
;-)
Will you please add me to your ping list.
sure! glad to have you! hey subs, please add theoldlady to your class lists?
Yeppers.
Tried to fill out the “Anniversary List” for May anniverserious announcements last week at church. (The WEDS group announces all of the couples having anniversaries for each month on the last Sunday of the month at the start of Mass.) One week into May, and every slot was filled! Had to go get another two sheets.
Well, at least the two newbie’s have got household “stuff” they can return from the honeymoon to .... Won't be gonewbuyitall's running up debt and running out of closet space.
While that professional probably does have more than it’s share of women willing to slut themselves out, it is rampant so it really does take a good man not to be tempted. Glad you found a good one!
Why did you leave out Environmental Consultants? I feel like I’m one of the Beatles for all the screaming, adoring throngs when I’m out in public in my consultor’s outfit.....
hmmmm.... post a pic here of you in your consultor’s outfit and let us be the judge : )
and because you probably do not follow Henry the 8th on Twitter, let me remind you that it’s the anniversary of the beheading of Anne Boleyn today.
We were both manufacturing engineers and worked together for many years, throughout our dating years
and after we were married. He is still in the business, but he asked me to quit about 17 years ago.
He got tired of coming home to a cold house and no dinner until I cooked it.
When we worked together, people used to tell us that they couldn’t stand to be with their respective spouses
24/7 the way we were. I was never rude enough to say, “Then why the heck did you get married?” But it
was on my mind a lot. ;-)
dang. 1) I am missing out on stuff by not seriously getting into Twitter (not sarcasm), and 2)A Henry the VII reference; nice touch for a WEDDING SHOWER thread, XS!!!! Jeez-Louise.
Thank you all!
That cake is so you!
Good point! I get the same thing - I was a homeschooling Mom with a husband working out of our home so surrounded 24/7 by husband and kids. I loved it - still love it although I’m past the homeschooling era
That’s great! You must have a lovely family. Homeschooling is the only way to go these days, and you really got the jump on it.
