Ray Cote, the charming fellow pictured here, has resigned as the board of education president in Mahopac, New York, just north of the city, after a hot mike caught him calling a parent fat. "This one here, chubby wubby, she gets fatter and fatter at every meeting. She really does," said Cote at a board gathering that was being streamed live online. A committed mother watching at home put the clip on YouTube, like a small-town V. Stiviano, and now the jerk is gone.
"It totally tells us that he cares nothing for the community that he says he upholds," said the concerned parent with a working knowledge of how to go viral. "Nothing. He cares nothing for us."
"My words were inappropriate and do not reflect my feelings or attitudes," said Cote in a statement. "I will strive to regain the trust and respect of the community." Cote, it turns out, belongs to a "diversity and sensitivity team" created after students posted racially insensitive comments on Twitter earlier this year. Or he used to.
Just don’t say them in a meeting...

Typical school administrator, showing utter contempt for parents; they will slam Common Core down their throats regardless of what the parents think.

Several years ago, I had a comp client who was a trannie. One of my co-workers used to hum Dude Looked Like a Lady under her breath whenever he came to the office-we all thought it was hysterical, but we never laughed about that or any other client joke until clients were all gone, and we were closing up at 5...

Many people were there, in person and otherwise. It was a board meeting on live stream. He stuck his foot in his mouth in the public square and on the record, perfectly valid reason for termination.

Valid point, but I still think it is a bit much-I’m betting the publik skool system there certainly has more pressing problems than the board president calling a parent fat, or someone watching making a fuss over it.
I’d rather read that someone watching called to object to something having to do with what was being taught, lesson plans, etc-but then that would require giving a damn about something other than bad manners...
Not in and of itself perhaps, but I do think it does show the contempt he has for all parents. You can probably extrapolate and figure out this guy is big-time jerk.
Those parents pay his salary, so they are perfectly entitled to make him hit the road.
True-but I’d still rather see the outrage over something to do with the actual operation of the school, or the curriculum...
The job can’t be that tough, I’m sure they can find someone more professional to do the job.
If he’s that unprofessional and stupid he’s probably screwing that up too. But the board nature protects members from punishment there, since actions are always “by the board”. This time he did it all by himself.

Likely is, but the article doesn’t mention any outrage over anything like that.
Granted, we stretched every dollar to send our kids to private school, so I obviously have no use or liking for the public school system, even though I’m forced to pay for it-but I still think the outrage is overblown when there are probably much bigger issues there..
