We are witnessing the criminalization of America, where any one of us may find our front doors broken down and a SWAT team in camouflage standing in our living rooms. It is also why we may find ourselves under arrest for some innocent action that no reasonable person would think is illegal, like helping an injured bird, getting lost on a snowmobile on federal land, or shipping lobsters in plastic instead of cardboard boxes. And as absolutely absurd as these examples sound, they have all led to federal investigations of private citizens.
The militarization of agencies and the criminalization of trivial actions are only symptoms of a much deeper and more troubling problem within Washington.
The heart of the problem is that the federal government no longer trusts the American people. When all of us feel that we are no longer seen as citizens but as potential suspects a relationship of trust is impossible.

No government agencies should be militarized. The Founders saw the dangers in even having a standing army, as they experienced it under British rule.
1) FBI HRT for hostage rescue/anti terrorism
2) USMS Fugitive recovery
3) DOE NNSA/OST teams operating under the AEA of 1954. Thats it!
Forget about the federal government ending this madness. However, all of these agencies have offices in all 50 states. They deploy from states, use state highways and local roads, they’re paid by taxes extracted from people in states, they’re dependent on state law enforcement cooperation. You get it? The states can shut these guys down overnight.
Couldn’t agree more! Including cessation of the militarization of local police forces by providing military equipment, gratis, to curry favor with the locals.
This is what Sherriff Richard Mack advocates. He took the case to SCOTUS and won, making the Sherriff the ultimate law enforcement agency in the county.
I do applaud any representative willing to try to reign in the feds.
Don’t want militarized police units?? Then take control of the NWO ruling elite.
"One man with courage makes a majority." ~ Andrew Jackson
I don’t understand how we citizens have put up with it this long. I guess it’s “they didn’t come after me”.
I hope this gets traction.
Bullseye, txrefugee! 1000% correct.
We need to make it a conservative mantra: END Armed Federal Departments and Agencies!
For number one, you left out the FBI’ s key duty of executing innocent women and children.
FBI (First Burn the Infants).....they don’t much like that one. I tell F-troopers BATF means “Burn All Toddlers First”.....that lights them up like a firecracker, but the new agents just look at you like you are a gun-nut or patriot or something.
He’s been reading my posts!!!
“Fabulous, But Incompetent” is my favorite and always makes them cringe. I’ve actually used that one a bit in real life interactions, although I will say that the FBI folks I have worked with were technical folks supporting our soldiers, not law enforcement, and were all good patriotic Americans.
“Anything not forbidden is mandatory”.
I would add 1 - DOD teams that are limited to military bases that have TS or higher areas. SWAT team members should be cleared for that level of access. Given that restriction, there would be like 5, certainly less than 10 such teams.
“a relationship of trust is impossible”
That is where we are at right now. Its leading to civil rebellion. If the legislature does not stop this police state activity the civilian population will.
The people should form a SWAT team to arrest the SWAT teams.
The actual law should be both federal and at the state level.
The federal law should act from an affirmative direction, that is, by describing just who is authorized to be armed, to carry out court warrants, to have tactical resources and funds allocated for the above.
To start with, the military, the FBI, the US Marshals Service, the Secret Service, the Federal Protective Service, and several others, narrowed down from this list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_law_enforcement_in_the_United_States
That is, right now there are over 100 federal police agencies, a list that should be reduced to about a dozen, and non-police and non-military agencies should be stripped of both their weapons and explosives, and any currently authorized tactical teams.
At the state level, there needs to be “de-paramilitarizing of police departments” laws.
States must have a list of authorized equipment that police departments may have. Anything not on the list will be turned over to their county Sheriff, in their storage facilities, and on the books as the property of the state police agency. Likewise, only Sheriffs will be allowed to have SWAT teams.
Local police departments are prohibited from directly communicating with the federal government, except through their local Sheriff, and under the auspices of the state police.
Police academies will have their curricula adapted to insure that graduates do not engage in paramilitary actions.
