Did anyone watch tonight's season finale of PERSON OF INTEREST? It basically showed that nothing can be done to stop the NSA.
Depressing ending...
I recorded it - will watch tomorrow and comment
By traditional means, little can be done to limit, reduce, reign in reckless government foreign polices, corruption, spending, etc.
It’s just become too big.
Machine 1 will battle machine 2...and absorb it.
Best series on tv.
I always watch what my grandson calls “Grams Big 3” on Tuesday evening: NCIS, NCIS:Los Angeles and Person of Interest.
NCIS was a beautiful tribute to Ralph Wait. Just wish they would bring Zeva back. NCIS LA left us all hanging until the fall. Person of Interest is a very scary and disturbing program that gets too close to the truth about our government. I am really surprised that it has been allowed to continue without government censorship.
What I find interesting about all three of these programs is that they do give us some glimpse into the functioning of our government, albeit from a different perspective.
I agree. Very depressing. Like I said, it shows there’s nothing that can be done. I was telling my wife a while back that the only way the “weapon of mass surveillance” could be stopped would be with a bunch of hackers. Tonight’s episode showed that no one will know who they’re communicating with.
About 6 years ago I knew a guy who hauled 8 large servers to Los Alamos and they all looked like what Root was working on. Supposedly there were a total of 16 bought from Dell and it would be the second fastest computer in the world. I’m now convinced there were probably hundreds bought from different companies. We’re completely outnumbered.
My wife believes this is being done with government approval because “they” want us to know what’s coming. When they finally flip the switch nobody will be surprised. She also believes Snowden was, and still is,
working for the government.
Which is the good machine, one or two?
It’s a fictional tv show, right?
Isn’t that the whole them of the show?
When I watched the pilot I thought “this is science fiction.” Now its a documentary.
“them”= “theme”
NSA doesn’t work for itself; it follows directions and orders. Figure the rest out for yourself.
That’s our exact lineup! I don’t watch much TV, but Tuesday nights I make an exception. I didn’t think I’d be able to watch NCIS tonight, with the sad goodbye to Gibbs’ dad (Waite), but - like you said - it was a very beautiful tribute.
I agree with you about the govt function assessments/take of these shows.
I just quoted this show on an earlier thread, today...

I understand. To stop the NSA you’d have to stop a lot of billionaires and millionaires and politicians owned by them.
Fictional? I think it’s based on fact.
Last episode of the season but not the end of the series (I hope).
I like the bit at the very end where that weasel WANTS to take orders from the new machine. One thing that rang very true was how Decima secretly created Vigilance. A created and financed enemy is not a new thing.
Only time I watch TV is Tuesday night, sometimes Friday night for Blue Bloods.
When the whole deal about NSA started coming out I thought “its just like Person of Interest”.
I spent the weekend with my kids and my grandkids. We went to Point Park in Chattanooga, TN. My grandson who is eight, started pointing out the cameras to me. What must it be like to be eight and already looking for the cameras.
