What else can be said when faced with irrational criticism?

Not of the whining, I mean that Crosby has the audacity to give as good as he gets, since the NHL doesn’t officiate in the playoffs.

It’s a wild, wild world out there on the ice and to single Crosby out for criticism of “dirty play” is ridiculous.

his play is questionably dirty not just in the playoffs, and he is rarely called. at least that is what i hear. personally i just think of him as a whiner, but i have heard criticism of him from more than one quarter, as a dirty player. not to the level of NEAL, mind you.

one funny story from the IT convocation. There were many more MS degrees awarded than BS in the IT school, and when the professor charged with awarding those degrees first got up there she said, “you know how you guys are nervous before a test? well i am trembling at the prospect of having to pronounce all of these INDIAN names!” We LOAO, bc #1 it was true, but #2 that she had the guts to say it out loud was refreshing! seriously, the masters candidates were 90% foreign, either Asian or Indian. There was a woman in front of me as we were waiting in line to get in for the IT school convocation, and she was wearing an orange SARI. i said, oh i love your sari, she was so happy and said, oh my son called and said the color is orange, so i said i will wear an orange sari. She got out of line to look for her husband and came back with him along with the head of the foreign students ofc, a very nice woman who thanked me effusively for letting them back in line [we were at the front, fortuitously enough] and explained that they were off the boat from India for the grad and she was kind of “babysitting” them. Living in DC and being accustomed to seeing foreigners of all stripes, i assumed she was a local Indian there for the grad and familiar with the whole #bleedorange thing they have going on, but she was just in the US for the graduation.

It all depends on whose ox is being gored, doesn’t it?

Nothing much has changed since Lemieux complained about the “garage league” antics of the NHL refs.

Bottom line is that all players get away with whatever they can get away with. In a world of perfect justice, where games were called according to the rule book, players like Crosby would run rings around others.

That doesn’t happen. Uncalled penalties against one, lead one to conclude a version of the golden rule. Do unto others as they have done unto you.

I went to my niece’s ceremony at Duquesne. The one for her school (Health Sciences), where she got her diploma.

The speaker did not go into politics. The priest giving the invocation and benediction was named Fr. McCool.

For some of the departments people were hugging the department head when they got their diplomas. Seemed odd to me. There was no hugging in engineering at CMU, let me tell you that!

And now a chorus of boos. Or shall I refrain?

I assume that in ANY engineering dept ceremony there would be no hugging! LOL! The speaker at the IT school grad was an alum class of 2006. He has started about 20+ companies, designed apps, done a million things. Said the reason he went out on his own was because he did not want to have to get up early for a job, so was going to figure out a way to work without getting up early. He was fun to listen to.

For the Libs, Leftist screed’s creed, chapter & verse to be quoted and evangelized, particularly at these events to punctuate the student’s years of “education”.

I remember 3 years ago at my daughter’s commencement we had New York’s finest, Chucky Schumer ... Not as much in terms of diatribe, but he did make sure to talk in detail about one of his favorite subjects – himself.

It’s not irrational, it’s fact. And he’s no dirtier than Corey Perry. I cannot stand highly skilled players resorting to that sort of thing. You can see why a marginal player might feel the need to cheat to gain an edge when he knows he has less speed or talent but for the talented ones, it just makes them look like jerks.

I love that you made that mom happy on Mother’s Day weekend, when she was a visitor there to boot. :)

A+++ that would be preferable to this! one of the commenters to the article noted that Chrissy Matthews was less offensive than Remnick, and i believe that!

I was just saying to my husband that the brainwashed college kids might have been silent about showering with their openly gay teammate, but I felt the professional players might behave a bit differently.

That is a really neat story - it was great that she wore the orange for her son! Since we live in the suburbs and not in Houston, I am always surprised by the multicultural blend of folks here - I have seen full on burkas, nigerians in their colorful headwraps, and lots and lots of women wearing saris and men in the silky pantsuits. the burkas still floor me though...

Congratulations to xsboy! What a shame that a lunatic speaker can taint a joyous occasion...

I barely finished measuring for an estimate before it started sprinkling-but at least I can sit here and get it done right away, which I hope will make the customer happy...

Each day one of Obama’s minions
Embarks on some idiotic screed-
The boss has a foot in his mouth
Which makes him unable to lead

They’re all reduced to hiding
Behind lame excuses and lies,
Hoping they just look feckless
And a smarter colleague fries

They should remember Nixon’s men
Who acted out in the same way-
None of them were left unscathed
And some are still reviled today...

At VRWCboy’s college commencement — where he graduation from the Honors College Magna Cum Laude with High Honors (I know that sounds redundant but it actually is two separate recognitions) — the speaker was a Texas State Senator with an A++ rating from the Texas Right to Life Committee and an A+ rating from the NRA. He kept his comments brief and encouraging.
