.357 is pretty powerful, but Clint Eastwood made the .44 Magnum famous with his 'most powerful handgun in the world' line.

A couple of more powerful ones have come out since then, the .454 Casull and the S&W .500.

Not the most powerful, but close. Dirty Harry carried a .44 magnum, considerably more powerful than .357 magnum, and there is a .41 magnum, and now, some even bigger, like .454 Casull and some .50 caliber rounds.

All that said, .357 is quite a handful.
