Mercedes-Benz driver turns tables on carjackers, shoots both men dead in the Bronx: cops The two men who were slain by the person they were trying to carjack were shot inside their car as they tried to flee from the vicinity of the Dyer Avenue Deli Grocery in Wakefield about 4:40 a.m. Friday, police sources said.
The victim of an attempted Bronx carjacking went berserk Friday, chasing down the thieves and shooting them dead, cops said. The 30-year-old man was driving a Mercedes-Benz SUV when he was approached by Jermaine Johnson and Kaiison Lewis outside the Dyer Avenue Deli Grocery in Wakefield about 4:40 a.m., police said.

The victim is probably toast for having an unregistered weapon and no license to have it.
What he should have done is flee when his task was completed.

The police are never there to help just plain old YOU. They are there to enforce that laws and policies that their government choose.
In this place, NYC, the very last thing you want to do is deal with police after having shot someone, whether legally or not. My advice is to hop in your car leaving the immediate area with your lights off and drive like you stole it.

According to census data, Wakefield is primarily black, 73% and 19% hispanic so the Mercedes guy is probably not white.

As to uncooperative, he is just following ‘the guidelines’ of saying NOTHING to anyone but a lawyer.
Can’t imagine the neighborhood he was in but pretty sure he wouldn’t want to be standing in the middle of the street when the rest of the troglodytes came crawling up out of the sewer...Probably figured he was better off trying to get his car back....

I agree...but they still would get a pass if it’s me on the jury. Assuming the guy was minding his own business when these two sons butted in and scared the crap out of him...that, to me, makes a “rational response” more difficult, and therefore I give him more leeway.
Bottom line - if you want to jack someone, you have to be prepared for a non-happy ending.
Give the shooter a medal. But, he’s in NYC AND I’m sure DeBlasio will have the DA throw the book at him.
Yep, because his life is going to be nothing but absolute hell now. That city does everything they possibly can to screw over victims of crimes. Just as one example, when I was insane enough to live there, one night I came back from work, parked my car in the street. Next morning I came out 5am saw my side view mirrors were smashed and my windshield cracked, most likely by some ferals during the school night. And what was in my windshield? Two tickets for “Equipment violation, no side view mirror and damaged windshield”. Crime committed, city wastes absolutely no time in screwing over the victim.
