Ron Howard, the Oscar-winning director, has put his family home and farm up for sale near Greenwich, Conn., for $27.5 million.
The lakefront estate is made up of 32 acres of land straddling the Connecticut and New York border. In addition to a working farm, the property includes a more than 17,200-square-foot main residence, a guesthouse, an indoor sports complex, an observatory, riding trails and woods.
Howard and his wife, Cheryl, raised their family in the classic New England-style home. Among the rooms are a two-story office/library, a 14-seat theater, six bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The guesthouse has two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Theres an indoor saltwater swimming pool, a gym and a yoga studio. The sports complex houses an indoor sports court and a basketball half-court

Straddling the border? I'd bet that makes for a lot of problems with both those voracious "blue" states fighting tooth and nail for the taxes relating to the property and the sale of it.
Politics aside, he’s done many movies that are worth watching. He’s had only a few movies that aren’t worth watching.
I think it looks pretty “homey” for a mansion. There are touches here and there that I really like. I don’t usually like mansions, but I could live there. In a number of ways it looks very down to earth.
Only allowed one bullet in his shirt pocket.
The house is not so much a classic New England-style home as a classic Newport Mansion style home. Actually, for a large sq. footage house, it has nice lines. Some mega-mansions begin to look more like a hotel than a residence. This one actually looks like a house.
RH Is a MORON
Kids are grown so he doesn’t need a house that big. What, did he have 25 kids? I don’t begrudge him having a huge house if he can afford it, but libs are such hypocrites when it comes to such things. (See tagline.)
Other than all those Oscars, Golden Globes and critical acclaim...
What has the guy done? He is sixty after all.
Besides, he'd probably trade it all for a decent head of hair.
Like mine.
He played Chuck's younger brother on Happy Days.
I'm not a lawyer but I'd think that if the residential structures are entirely in one state the only issue would be getting the boundaries of the land not in the same state as the residence and apply that state's standard tax policies to that land. The real fun would begin if the residence is literally on the state line.
Just a guess on my part.
32 acres? I guess they were riding their horses around in circles.
Well, how a out american graffiti, the first couple of seasons of happy days, and as director of the movie, night shift.
Never saw it...probably should
Frost/Nixon
Never saw it...and no interest in seeing it.
A Beautiful Mind...
Saw it.Good, but not great.I didn't know he was connected to that film.
Beautiful place. I’d kill for that library. But it’s Connecticut. I’d be sharing a state with disgusting, ignorant, statist liberals screaming to take my guns. I’ll pass, thanks.
about
“Ill pass, thanks.”
Aw shucks. And I was so looking forward to being your permanent guest that you couldnt get rid of. :-)
Never saw it.Not my "thing".
the first couple of seasons of happy days
Never saw it....ditto
and as director of the movie, night shift.
Never even heard of it.
I don't know...maybe it's a generational thing...the younger you are,the more likely you are to like his work.I'm not young.
Here is a list of the movies he has directed. Most of it you can take your family to without having to worry about hearing anything or seeing anything that you don’t want them to.

No one really begrudges anyone their due around here, what people have a problem with are the folks who live in these huge mansions then demand you (and the rest of the proles) cut their energy consumption because of global warming.
My fantasy house has a study like that.
