High Court judge tells father to cut it out because it looks like he is shouting.
A High Court judge in England told an insensitive father that he must stop emailing his children in all capital letters because it looks like he is yelling at them.
The Israeli father is in a custody dispute involving his 13-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter. During the dispute, the children have been moving back and forth between England and Israel.
The judge ordered that the fathers old style of emails, which were "equivalent to him shouting, needed to be improved upon with the help of a family assistance officer.
"He needs help to make his messages appropriate and child friendly, the judge said. "There's nothing worse than an email suggestive that the sender is shouting at you."
Due to the communications problems, the relationship between the children and their father will be restored "at a distance."
The parents of the children also need to work on their communications skills.
"It is all about respect and a willingness to start again in the process of trying to interact as parents in a way which will enhance rather than harm their children, the judge said. "I wish them every success in that endeavor."
All caps makes it easier for an old fart like me to read.
AND THESE JUDGES HAVE THE TIME TO WASTE ON TRIALS LIKE THIS??
I can understand that. It does make it easier to read.
Is this satire??
The UK is concerned about all caps being insenstive yet seem to be OK with Sharia law? I SAY WITH ALL SENSITIVITY THAT THEY CAN JUST BITE MY BUTT!!
Back when I worked for the military, the gal who controlled the POL money (Petroleum, oil and lubricants for you in Rio Linda) sent out every email in ALL CAPS EVERY TIME.
She used the shop chief lists in our address book, but decided to use individual names on one email just before a training event that had every individual listed, including her supervisor.
I hit reply to all, which included my supervisors, and told her in all caps:
PLEASE TURN OFF THE ALL CAPS ON YOUR KEYBOARD! The key is just above the “Shift Key” on the left side of your keyboard.
Needless to say, that was the last all caps message we got from her.
I told her that Outlook would not identify ALL CAPS spelling errors, her spelling was atrocious and her grammar was even worse. I got a lot of “Thanks for saying what we have all been thinking of her emails” from other supervisors.
Commas, apostrophes, and correct spelling not required, though, I suppose.
IF WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE IT WHY IS THE KEY SO BIG, HUH? ANSWER ME THAT!
IT’S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE DID SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!!!
Though I did ‘learn’ to type in HS in 55, I don’t remember if the mill was all caps or not.
However, when I went to the Typewriter in Naval Communications, I don’t think the mill had ANYTHING but caps, same with the TTY machine - or, if it could shift, it wasn’t done as the mode was ALL CAPS....
And yes, ALL CAPS with 14 FONT BOLD makes reading so much easier on ‘old eyes’ even though they were ‘enhanced’ some 7 years ago.
This kind of thread is red meat for Freepers.
BOOKMARKED.
Oh good grief!
