HEBRON, Ill. (AP) - McHenry County officials say a northern Illinois man has died after falling off the back of a golf cart.
The McHenry County Sheriffs Office says 20-year-old Stephen Canfield of Harvard died in the early Sunday accident. Police say Canfield was riding on the back of a golf cart on a roadway in Hebron Township when he fell for unknown reasons. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

He only had 2 beers before the accident.. and he is 6’3 and 250lbs.. he wasn’t drunk
They are very prone to tipping over. Hilly golf courses, sharp turns. Their intended purposes are for golf courses. When adult golfers are ending up missing limbs or killed, they are not safe. Add teenagers just getting around neighborhoods and goofing off and they are a hazard.
Don’t get me wrong, I like golf carts, but too many people think they are just a fun way to get around. Any fooling around and some plain stupidity has resulted in serious injury.
Walking is probably a healthier and safer way to get around the neighborhood.
