I think they "prettified" Jack a little bit!
Tate Donovan, the actor, has been aged cosmetically to give heft to his role, IMHO.
I see a pretty Jack and think of Kiefer S. getting drunk publicly and "falling" into a Christmas tree.
In an interview I heard, Kiefer S. said he bulked up and exercised a lot to keep Jack Bauer a mean machine...something like that!
