Nine circus performers were injured in a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus act at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
The performers were part of an aerial act during the noon show. Witnesses on scene said scaffolding holding the performers fell more than 20 feet to the ground.
A circus official tells WBZ-TV, the accident happened during a hair hang act, where performers hang from their hair. Eight performers were suspended above the ground, one performer was on the ground.
Providence Fire Department tells WBZ NewsRadio 1030, 9 people were transported to area hospitals. The injuries included broken bones and head injuries but none are life-threatening, according to Providence Fire.
Until we find out the nature of the problem, the show is going to be on hold, said Providence Fire Chief Claren Cuhna.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating.
The performance was suspended after the apparent accident and the 3 p.m. show canceled.

I bet that was hair raising.
Too bad, hope they recover well. My Dad, now 90, and I are circus fans. Ringling is almost the last big American circus still doing shows across America. Thanks to the Feld family for keeping it going.
SUX to be a dough nut vendor...unless you own the property that abuts mine and;
1/ fill in wet land screw up the natural aquifer..Plant on adjoining props
2/ bait deer
3/ bait turkey
4/ just basically be an asshole
Dunkin’ Donuts Center? Mmmmmmm...
I heard on the radio that one of the performers fell 40 feet. Pretty amazing nobody was killed. Doubly if everyone will be able to walk after they recover from “non life-threatening” injuries. Not long ago, I think a Cirque d’Soliel performer died in a 30 foot fall.
There is a small local circus out of Oklahoma that occasionally comes to a nearby town. It’s a lot more enjoyable than the big arena circus.

Aw man, you crashed that little dream I just had!
The animal rights activists hate circuses. Let’s hope this incident doesn’t give the liberals any ammunition.
I saw this very show.....Legends....about 3 months ago in Orlando.
Amazing performers.......incredible show.
But they’re at the mercy of whoever is in charge of the rigging, I guess and they’re constantly tearing down and putting up.
Hope everyone is recovering!
FWIW........An organized group was in the street ....as we were in line for the. show......loudly demanding people not attend, because of ‘so called’ animal cruelty........they were rude.....had pictures and were scaring the children.
Wondering if the show could have been sabotaged??????
PETA is probably pleased...all the injured were humans. You can imagine the outrage if a falling acrobat had landed on an elephant.
At least two clown cars didn’t have a head on, it’s two score or more dead and injured when that happens.
A lot of scalping going on in the parking lot before the show.
follicle malfunction?
The last time I was in a walmart, it was like the circus was in town, with everyone all tattooed up like carnival workers...One 300 pound lady appeared to be wearing her 11 year olds shorts....gak
Maybe the shorts were 11 years old
I am ashamed of some posts here today.....uncalled for and mean spirited.
Those ladies were trying to make a living......and now they are injured.
Who knows how critical they are......falling from 40 feet!
Could you not pray for them??????
Did that have something to do with the story?
