Facebook just announced a dramatic update to the way that it ranks its News Feed content that will have users seeing more news articles and fewer cute meme photos, like LOLCats. The company cites an internal survey that apparently showed that people prefer clicking links to high quality articles (about current events, sports, whatever) over the latest memes.
"Starting soon, well be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook," the blog post reads. "This means that high quality articles you or others read may show up a bit more prominently in your News Feed, and meme photos may show up a bit less prominently."
It's not clear how facebook is going to make its "quality" judgment. But it appears that you'll be seeing a lot less of LOLCats, Good Guy Greg and 9Gag.

Maybe they will have links on how not to be so stupid as to have yourself on Facebook.
Facebook hates cats?
Sometimes those low-brow pictures can be fun to look at.
I’d rather see Grumpy cat memes as opposed to glowing articles about Obama.
Who goes to FB for news ?
they know what’s best for us...
What do they mean by high quality articles? I like the cute pics more.

Now that we’ve reeled you in with the cute kitties, you’re OURS.
“Facebook” and “high quality” don’t belong in the same statement.
Screw Facebook then...i hate Facebook...and their 20,000 gender classifications.
Fuck cat haters...sorry, excuse ny French, but that’s what I think about them.

What the hell is a “Facebook”?

I’m willing to go right out on a limb and declare that FB NEVER ASKED ANYONE what they’d prefer, NEVER HAS, and NEVER WILL. I hate the push content on that site, in particular that new “Trending” crap.
If they gave a d### about the users of FB, they’d give us a n ACTUAL preferences screen for what we want to and don’t want to see, and how we want to see it.
More garbage-mouth lies from FB. Thanks MinorityRepublican.
