Oh yes there is; you forgot the sardines! Bacon will do, but a layer of sardines is perfection.

I won't revolt the thread by saying what my favorite cheese for that is. I think it comes from the German/Dutch side of my ancestry. ;-)

Have you tried ? Rachlech cheese melted over boiled, sliced
potatoes? It’s close to your fave cheese, but not as strong.
