Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct on Saturday night, April 26, after an apparent domestic dispute, according to New Canaan Police.
A call to police about the incident at the couples New Canaan house was made about 8 p.m. Saturday night, police said. But details over what were not immediately released. New Canaan Police hold a weekly press briefing with local media late each Monday morning.
Simon and Brickell, who have been married for more than 20 years, have lived in New Canaan with their three children for years. New Canaan Police did not want to release their address. Neither of their names are listed in the town tax records; but their house is in the northern section of town.
They both were scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday morning at 10 a.m.

Jackson Brown is a pretty good songwriter from that era
I had read somewhere that when the Nirvana guys saw it, they were practically crying laughing. Absolutely loved it.
I was at that Simon & Garfunkel show too. Was one of the first 20,000 or so to arrive by 9am. By the time the show started at 8pm, there were 500,000 more people in the park. Great, great concert.
Actually of all the Hollywood type celebs who have felt the need to “share” their life stories, Carrie Fisher’s take on her unique upbringing is hysterical. No self pity, just a wonky, self deprecating humor coupled with an incredulous “matter of fact” story telling.
Fiaher’s Postcards From the Edge is really funny.
As to Paul Simon and Brickell...meh. Invite Carrie over, and have her do some of her intervening. Otherwise...who cares.
He left the toilet seat up one time too many. :-)
Wow...Paul Simon.
Pretty feisty for an old guy! I hope my wife is tossing stuff at me for bad behavior when I am his age.
Yeah....what about it?
She is horrible.
I would think Irving Berlin, Porter, and the Gershwins are at the top of the list. Even George Cohan.
Pop writers? Simon is up there, as is Micheal Jackson (as much as I hate to admit it.) Even Neil Diamond and Burt Bacharach (sp) are on that list.
I guess you would need to set some parameters (era, money, etc.)
#WELLTHANKSFORREMEMBERINGME
IMHO, Brian Wilson is leagues ahead of Michael Jackson.
Slap her til shes red, Fred....
You are right about Wilson. MJ was the only one I could think of off the top of my head who wrote most of his stuff.
It’s funny, your list has some old names that I recognize...but I bet my kids wouldn’t.
I saw hank Williams on the list. There are a ton of writers in Nashville who just churn them out—and most people would have no idea who they were.
Thanks for the list. I am going to bookmark it and spend some time listening to those songs.
I love that list, among other music lists.
That’s a cool list. I can’t believe Leonard Cohen checked in at 94. I was looking for him in the top 10.
I will say, if anyone thinks Lennon & McCartney weren't influential songwriters, check the list and remember that those below them (other than Dylan) had a head start of decades.

My wife and I saw him and Sting in St. Paul last February. Simon’s voice is still excellent...which was astounding to me. I’m not a huge Sting fan (the wife loves him), but he was pretty good as well. But even many young people exclaimed they thought the old guy (Simon) had outperformed the ahem young guy (Sting).
“But your honor...it was a simple desultory philippic.”
SNL had 'em on together. The world has never been the same since.
