Could it be the coconut oil or the lack thereof??? It just might be.

Check this out Jack. I’ll have to see where Sri Lanka falls on the dementia scale if listed.

A study published in the medical journal Tropical and Geographical Medicine found that coronary heart disease, the world’s number one cause of death, is virtually unknown in a coconut eating population of Sri Lanka.

“Alzheimer’s/Dementia death rates by country.”

That is a very interesting statistic.
A diet, high in fish, may also boost longevity, but they also eat a lot of pork and chicken here.

Looking at those stats, and using cause and effect logic, it has to be exposure to winter.

Great, informative chart - thanks for posting -

and “could it be the coconut oil...”

I grew up in the 1930’s-'40’s on a north woods farm that was built by my great grandfather in 1848.

there was no electricity available - we pretty much lived as people had ‘forever’ in that we provided for the most of needs. foods etc.

We made our own lard (research lard - it's one of the healthiest fats (ORGANIC) and butter for fats. We never used olive oil, vegetable oils or Crisco.

I now use only coconut oil, my own rendered lard and organic butter. (I make ghee from butter and also mix half and half ghee and coconut oil for use on breakfast foods, potatoes etc...and/or coconut oil/butter or lard/coconut oil or lard/butter for frying.

So, If you were make a chart that showed the increased use of ‘man-made’ fats, like “oleo” = margarine, Crisco and hydrogenated fats like supermarket lard, vegetable oils, etc - I have an inkling that it would closely match the advent of Alzheimer's in this country. (Hmmm - I think I just got this weeks column almost written! thanks! :)
