And, as one reader noted: he's not on his cellphone! This is a pretty good example of how pedestrians should be on the roadways in San Francisco -- even if the example is a coyote.
Jennifer Anwaya snapped this image which we spotted on Richmondsfblog.com this morning. Apparently, the prairie wolf was seen casually making his way across Geary Boulevard at 37th Avenue earlier this week.
No word on where he was headed that evening. Perhaps it was just an urban stroll.
Even in these parts (New England), coyotes are beginning to integrate themselves into the neighborhoods. They are more civilized then some of the gang-bangers we have around here.
Looks like a well-fed coyote. Usually they have that half-starved Wiley Coyote look.
Oh my. That coyote hopefully got back to the woods in Golden Gate Park before he got run over.
We’re seeing many more coyote’s than usual this year in the Inland NW. Two friends on the outskirts of Spokane had their small dogs killed by them, one on Christmas day. Yikes. And an Idaho friend reports howling all night in her rural area — Sleepless in Sandpoint.
Anyway, what’s up with the coyote population?
UNtil they eat your pets.
See post #4 here.
I can SEE it because the ABCs have butts and chests/boobs. The rest of the Chinese on the planet have STRAIGHT LINES from head to foot--no butts, chests or boobs. Flat as the proverbial pancake.
I hope s/he is smart enough to evade all the Chinese. Otherwise the Chinese will WOK right over her/him....Coyote Chinese soup.
The Chinese eat EVERYTHING, and love DOG. Ah me. God did have His reasons for making them in such large amounts.
The entire area is inundated with the Chinese and Russians. I often wondered: WHO was it that won the Cold War?
More to this then meets the eye, imho.
Lots of dogs and cats around people.
Smart dog!
oops: ‘hear’ = here
It depends on their environment, of course. If they're in a wilderness area, they have to work for their meals. Near the suburbs, they have plenty of trash cans to raid and pets to capture.
Coyotes are quite smart. In Oracle, AZ I had a pack watering in my yard. I left them alone, they left me alone.
not to mention very well groomed as well.
This hardly relates, but fun nonetheless.

Prairiwolf? We call them dumpster dogs.
They also eat the mice from these open spaces. Well, they will eat anything I think. They are nature's garbage cans.
They came in from the south, the Peninsula, where there is even MORE open land and green space.
They are very shy and smart and make themselves very scarce so as not to scare away any of their prey...our garbage.
Hah, they probably even know which can has the garbage by the color, light to dark grays, as most canines are color blind.
I HAVEN'T heard any of them howling at the moon. Of course, there's so much fog all year round that baying at the moon would be the exception, not the rule.
Our local roadrunners wait for intersections to cross the local streets.
Is that from your standup act?
Don’t forget all the rats that feed off the restaurant and homeless garbage. Wile E. probably thinks those are pretty tasty, too.
Did they put up a “DEER CROSSING,AND CROSSING AND CROSSING AND CROSSING AND...” Sign?
