Malaysia will release a preliminary report next week on the disappearance of flight MH370, Prime Minister Najib Razak said, as his government battles criticism over the transparency of its investigation.
"I have directed an internal investigation team of experts to look at the report, and there is a likelihood that next week we could release the report," Najib told CNN in an interview aired late Thursday.
Malaysian officials said Wednesday the report already had been sent to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which requires countries to submit within 30 days a factual run-down of what is known so far in any air crash....
Najib was asked why investigators need to look at the report before its release, and whether that indicated it contained something "embarrassing".
"No, I don't think so. But I just want it to be -- this team to go through it. But in the name of transparency, we will release the report next week," he said....
Malaysia's government has come under fire for a seemingly chaotic initial response, while scarce and often contradictory official information has prompted transparency concerns.
The cabinet this week also approved plans to set up what Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has called a "highly credible" international team tasked with investigating what befell MH370.
His ministry was still assembling the team, whose members would be made known next week ...
"As I've consistently said since the beginning, we have nothing to hide," he said.
The investigation will not cover any findings from a criminal probe being conducted by Malaysian police...

Are these the same Russians who claim they are not involved in Ukraine???
I didn’t say they were right, just that they are interesting.
March 24th article:
Missing Malaysia Airlines plane: police deny investigation into phone call from MH370 cockpit by senior pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah
Note that they deny “the investigation into the phone call” but they don’t deny that “the phone call” took place. They are playing cat and mouse word games.
The story goes on to say that political activists in Malaysia also sometimes use SIM cards bought with fake identities if they fear that their phone calls may be bugged and Captain Shah is a member of one such group.
Did Captain Shah also have a cell phone with an unregistered SIM card besides his registered cell phone???
Was that what he used to receive a call just before the flight???
And was that the reason that the plane flew as low as 5,000ft over Malaysia — so that he could connect with one of the cell towers there and make a call to confirm hijacking status.
The answers to these questions are not under 15,000ft of Indian Ocean but right there in front of them in cell tower records.
NSA Reply to FOIA Request On MH370:
Currently and properly classified matter. What does NSA know?
http://www.earthfiles.com/news.php?ID=2198&category=Environment
The NSA isn’t saying whether it knows anything or doesn’t know anything.
She filed with the wrong agency. She should have filed an FOIA with the NTSB.
They say that what they know is classified.
We have determined that the fact of the existence or non-existence of the (MH370) materials you request is a currently and properly classified matter in accordance with Executive Order 13526 ...
They are not saying whether or not they have any MH370 materials because to even say whether or not they have any is classified.
I think there is a cat and mouse game going on here between the US/Aus/Brits and the Malaysians.
The Malaysians are in charge of the investigation and are doing the best they can to hide evidence like cell phone calls but what prevents them from doing so is not knowing whether the NSA has already scooped up those phone calls.
The Malaysians already tried to deny the co-pilot's cell phone connection to a tower in Penang, but then a NTSB official came forward and confirmed that the connection did take place.
Why didn’t Flight 370’s emergency beacon work?

Earlier, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, questioned whether MH370 had even crashed into the Indian Ocean - and he blamed manufacturer Boeing for its fate.
‘The loss of the plane is due to the makers, Boeing. How can Boeing produce a plane that is so easily disabled?’
So per the Malaysian PM, it’s Boeing’s fault that the pilot was able to disable the ACARS and transponder.
