David Moyes will be sacked by Manchester United in the coming weeks and could even go before the end of the day. Uniteds owners the Glazer family have finally lost patience with Moyes after a dismal season that has seen the reigning Barclays Premier League champions slump to seventh in the table. The final straw was Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Everton, their 11th in the Barclays Premier League this season, and a result that left the title holders down 13 points off the Champions League places.

Chelsea beat ARSEnull 6-0 this year....It happens.
Martinez was close to being sacked a number of times when he was at Wigan: http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/979912/dave-whelan:-i-would-sack-roberto-martinez?cc=5739
Previous managers got Wigan into the Premier League not Martinez. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wigan_Athletic_F.C.
Blackpool, Norwich. There have been other small clubs in the Premier League.
Wigan has an owner who probably has a lot to do with their success as well. Wigan are in the playoff spots now but they sacked their previous manager Owen Coyle, Martinez’s successor.
I’m just saying we shouldn’t read too much into things, one could say the team Martinez is winning with was largely created during Moyes’ reign as manager and that Manchester United was just a poisoned chalice job but I’m glad they went for Moyes in the first place, worth a try, Ferguson’s handpicked successor.
Actually Everton’s success has a lot to do with the players they got on loan (Lukuku, Barry, Deulofeu)
They will have a challenge in the off-season to replace them.
Sir Alex was close to getting sacked a few times as well, I think it was three years before he won any hardware at United.
Which is also an argument for why they should have given Moyes more time but Manchester United are an international brand and I know everyone argues that this United team are better than anything Ferguson took over.
But didn't Ferguson lose two times in the Champions League in recent years to Bayern Munich? Moyes' team did just about as well.
They should have given Moyes more time but didn't because Manchester United are an international brand and as an aside, they are playing in that international cup in the US in July, August. I know that's basically a tour but it will give everyone a chance to see some European teams nonetheless and should be interesting considering the Red Devils will have a new manager.
Ancelotti was treated poorly imo at Chelsea and he is suprised Moyes was sacked and sympathizes with him. MUFC should have given Moyes more time.
I agree 100% that Moyes got a raw deal.
I think he deserved an off-season to try to right the ship and bring in more of his players, and get rid of the vestiges of the Sir Alex era.
Heck, if Will Muschamp can still be the coach at Florida, then Moyes should still be at MU.

“Why blame Moyes? Blame Ferguson. No, not because he allegedly left Moyes with a United team which he knew had run its course. What nonsense. United had won the Greed Is Good League with a massive 11 points advantage and if there were some indication that the team as the saying goes was growing old together, it surely should have had another season in it.
No, I find Ferguson culpable because perhaps unconsciously he didnt want to nominate a manager who would steal his reverent thunder. Mourinho might have done that. Van Gaal, who could now be taking over, might also have done it.
Moyes is a perfectly decent, thoroughly competent middle of the road manager. One who has never won anything of consequence, but succeeded in keeping a far from wealthy club such as Everton constantly in the top division.”

Agree or disagree, I always like reading Brian Glanville’s columns and he just came out with one on this event. Glanville came out with World Soccer, the monthly magazine decades ago and is still writing. He also authored a history of the World Cup that is decent.
One of the major part of Wigan’s attendance problem is due to that they are more of a Rugby city than they are a soccer city. Wigan was one of the least financed teams in the Premier League.
Just look at the difference that Martinez made after getting to a much better financed and supported club in Everton. I am not sure that David Moyes could have Everton right now in a position to possibly get in the Champions League. Moyes is not a good enough of a coach to put a Europa League or Champions League team together.
We’ll see with time.
Some people say Rafa’s team that won the Champions League was basically built by his predecessor, Gérard Houllier.
I know that about Wigan, doesn’t have much to do with the conversation though. Egg-Chasers, Rugby.
I don’t recall any of Moyes’ Everton teams being on the side of 8-0 and 9-1 hidings or being dropped, fighting relegation every year either.
Also, I give all the credit in the world to Wigan for winning the FA Cup; But all the same, a wide array of clubs have won it, Sunderlands, Wolves and so on and some of those clubs have won more than 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FA_Cup_winners
"He certainly had a hard start last summer when he took the job. I think the chief executive (Ed Woodward) didn't get the deals done that he wanted. (There was) a lot of negativity, they had a slow start and they had no momentum.
"To be seventh in the league is disappointing and he (Moyes) will take responsibility for that, but you still need people around you to help you in every way they can and I don't think he's had that support, particularly from the players.
"I think he deserved a bit more time, definitely." - Roy Keane
Actually, Roberto Martinez is qualified if people like A. Valle Boas managed both Chelsea and Tottenham, not doing too well in those jobs.
In fact, I’d take it easy on Moyes, I was think of AVB at those two clubs, Allardyce at Newcastle.
Coaching is difficult, I think 8 PL Gaffers have been let go this year.
And Hodgson at Liverpool and that’s just over the past few years in the PL.
Sad news.
Inspirational former Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova dies at age 45
Sad indeed. Prayers for those affected. Very young.
“Since the start of World War 1, Manchester United have employed 19 different managers, all of whom enjoyed varying degrees of success. It will come as no great surprise to discover that the most successful manager over the past 100 years has been Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, readers may be taken aback to learn that in terms of winning matches, the next most successful manager in that period was the universally derided David Moyes.
The Scots win ratio of 52.94 was bettered only by Fergusons 59.67, with the clubs other great manager, Sir Matt Busby, recording a win rate of just 50.45 during his 24-year reign.”
So in short, David Moyes’ winning percentage was actually better than that of the legendary Sir Matt Busby.
Now, the Munich aircrash had the “Busby Babes”. Not sure how that fits in.
Rented some movie from Redbox about 2 years ago on that Munich Aircrash, decent movie.
I swear, soccer is just like kissing your sister.
You get all worked up for it only to realize it was all for nothing...
Maybe you like sports with a lot of steroids, American football, baseball, etc.
Well, I don’t swear.
What a boner from Gerrard!
