With today being Resurrection Sunday, the pick for today's feature is the epic film version of the Biblical novel "The Big Fisherman" by Lloyd C. Douglas("The Robe"). The only Bible epic produced by Walt Disney, the last film directed by Frank Borzage("A Farewell To Arms" with Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes), and the first film to be shot in Panavision(sadly, this is in pan-and-scan). Howard Keel plays Simon Peter although the film is as much about the vengeful daughter of King Herod Antipas as it is about him. Herbert Lom(Chief Inspector Dreyfus from the Inspector Clouseau series) plays Herod Antipas and lovely Martha Hyer plays her most villainous role as Herodias. Alexander Scourby(who once recorded the entire King James Bible) plays David Ben-Zadok

Good. It is hard to find. It’s never been officially released on home video.

The language of the actors is 100% american english. Except for when Christ is speaking, which sounds like he’s reading straight out of the KJB. One scene where Peter is looking for Ester, he opens a door and the sound made is a typical door knob opening. It’s Cheesy and predictable, but we enjoyed it anyway. :)
