I get a big kick out of going to IKEA and watching all the big, fat Americans checking out the tiny Euro apartment mock-ups.
So many of us lack self-awareness.
How in hell can anybody pay actual money for Ikea’s hideously ugly furniture? Are their customers frigging blind?
When living in Slovakia, I discovered IKEA and found it a great place to shop for low cost furniture and household goods.
One big advantage is how the furniture is broken down into easy to carry, or ship, flat boxes.
My computer desk, which includes shelves, compartments, and keyboard tray, stands almost five feet tall and two feet deep, not including the slide-out keyboard tray, was packed in one flat box, no more then five feet x two feet.
Most of my dishes and cookware are from the same store.
I later shipped all of my IKEA goods to the Philippines, where it is all in use, including my computer desk.
IKEA is certainly a great deal for students, young start-ups, and people on the move.
