Duncan on Mexican Women Who Cross U.S. Border to Give Birth: ‘These Are Our Kids’
CNS News ^ | 04/17/2014 | Penny Starr

Education Secretary Arne Duncan visited an elementary school in Columbus, N.M. last year where 75 percent of the students live in Mexico but are being educated in the United States because their mothers crossed the border to seek medical help, and their birth here makes them U.S. citizens.

"So for decades, women in labor have been allowed to cross the border and go to the nearest hospital, which happens to be just 30 miles north of the U.S. border,” the documentary says. “Once they give birth there, the children become citizens.”

Duncan also hailed the children’s parents for having “the courage to drop their 6- and 7- and 8-year-olds off; to send them here to chase the American dream, to get a better education, to contribute to society,” Duncan said.

The film includes an interview with Columbus Fire Chief Ken Riley, who over the years says he has “taken thousands of trips to the border to pick up women in labor.”

Duncan says children are getting more than an education when they cross the border into the United States, as school officials are “making sure the children are fed not just during the week put on the weekends.

“They make sure the kids dental needs are met, their health care needs are met,” Duncan said.

Hey - if that’s not an act of love I don’t know what is. Ain’t that right, Jeb?

In my county the parents have to prove that the children actually live in the school district before enrolling. I don’t think Mexico is in their school district.

They are our kids only IF you misread the Constitution.

“We are educators,” Moore said. “We consider that we are putting children first. We are doing our job.”

I don’t get outraged anymore. I am beyond that. I had to change my perspective otherwise I would be outraged every day all day.

Like Elvis Costello, “Well I used to be disgusted, but now I try to be amused.”

A kin to dropping off your loan payment bill in someone’s lawn and expect them to pay it.

Sneaking over the border to give birth in the US, then demanding we honor Mexican language and culture as our liberal politicians and educators grovel

And they send emergency services to the border to pick up the women in labor. In most places I’ve lived in they send a hefty bill for using an ambulance.

Why don't Jeb Bush or any other politicians who routinely weigh in on this issue talk about why Mexico isn't taking care of its own citizens?

We've been lectured by Mexico on multiple occasions about our treatment of their citizens, but we never publicly hold them accountable for their own failure to provide an economic climate that allows them to seek prosperity without illegally crossing the border. In my view, the US has been a perfect straw man for them - allowing them to deflect the dissatisfaction of their own citizens and thus sheltering them from blame.

Plus, things could get much worse in Mexico because their oil production is decreasing.

This has been going on for many years. The school bus used to actually cross the border and run a route through Palomas, Mexico twice a day until people threw a fit and stopped that. The district has no rules to keep them out, by design.

I think it is outrageous that all along the border women would cross just to have their baby, to get that baby citizenship. The women that did that didn’t live here, work here, they came just to get their children citizenship.

Many hospitals near the border have closed or stopped delivering babies because they did not get paid by anyone for that care. I think now the medical bills are paid by taxpayers through some special form Medicaid just for illegals but not sure about that.

Insanity that we allow all of the scams the illegals can come up with.

Mexico is like Apartheid-era South Africa....a small European elite ruling over millions of indigenous people.

I remember a few yrs ago reading about some county in CA I believe that their emergency medical were so busy picking people up at the border that some calls by taxpaying citizens could not be taken care of in time, and a person died because of it. The citizens were very upset but I doubt if anything was done.

Since when did the US incorporate mexico? Since when did mexicans have any say at ALL in the US? If you are here illegaly, or you employ or traffic illegals from mexico, you should be imprisoned and deported, period, even if you were an American citizen. Aiding and abetting a foreign nation in insurrection and invasion is a capital offense. Just be lucky that you aren’t shot on sight while trying to cross the border. Mexico will shoot any gringo try to cross, so should we in kind.

There are a couple of high schools in NYC devoted exclusively to educating students who are in this country 4 years or less and who come from Spanish-speaking countries. The kids, almost without exception, have no ambition. "My father is a super in a building, that's what I want to be," one student told me. Only a few seriously apply themselves to their studies, even in the dazzling new excellently-equipped buildings they were given for schools (while most of NYC's students attend buildings sorely in need of maintenance). Many of the students are are illiterate both in Spanish AND English. Many of the girls are pregnant, and many of those already have previous babies. Many high schools in NYC actually have NURSERIES for students' babies in the basement, complete with paid attendants. The goal of these slutty girls is to get pregnant, as soon as possible, to cement their status in this country and to collect government checks. The teenage boys who gave them those babies? Off to give some to other girls. What a life.

Many of the students never received any medical care or vaccinations, and so "gift" us with their tropical diseases and maladies civilized nations prevent with vaccinations. Many of them lack the most basic knowledge of hygiene. All of them lack the most basic social inhibitions, openly grabbing each other in sexual embraces, kissing in hallways, etc. And all of this is applauded by Mayor DiBlah-blah, as it was by his predecessor, NYC being a sanctuary city.

It's such a treat to see certain neighborhoods absolutely trashed by the illegals, just re-creating the cesspool neighborhoods from whence they sprang.
