A Denver, Colorado mother has been shot dead in front of her children by her 'hallucinating' while she was on a 13 minute call to 911, police said.
Kristine Kirk, 44, called for help around 9:30p.m. Monday, telling dispatchers that her husband Richard Kirk, 47, was 'talking about the end of the world' and 'scarring' their three children. A source told FOX31 investigators are looking at whether he had eaten a marijuana cookie.
Mrs Kirk said in the 911 call that there was a gun in the house but it was in a safe, according to a probable cause statement.
'She then said that her husband retrieved the gun from the safe and she began to scream,' the statement reads. A gunshot could then be heard followed by silence.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting.
'They were almost there,' Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman, told The Denver Post.

But, yes, I am agreeing with you on just about every point, including the thoughts on "legalization." Country people used to make their own laudanum; that kind of self-suffiency could only be a benefit to our culture.

I think we are in good agreement. If people want to make laudanum or even stronger stuff and get stupid, it’s their business. Just like people can make home brewed liquor; it’s not up my alley so I don’t know if hard liquor is also legal to make or not, but it should be, for home use.
Not at all. I want gov out of it entirely. If people grow mj, poppies or brew their own liquor, it should not be under the gov’s purview, unless states want to make it such. It’s a state business, not fedgov. But selling, IMHO, should be a serverely punishable offense; and again - a state issue, not fedgov.

Well lets go back to a previous question. Should I contribute to welfare spending, on a person who made an adult decision to stunt his/her brain growth? Enforcement of that would be absurd of course...but back to my original question.
If an able bodied 24 y/o male walks past all the Help Wanted signs in town and finds the welfare office...they shouldn’t test him for drugs? They should fork over the people’s cash, no questions asked? What if the guy were obviously intoxicated? Now the guy behind the counter at the welfare office knows he is below 25 y/o...and other than being on mj, he is completely able bodied...he just signs the guy up and puts him on the dole?
If that’s too harsh for you, how about this scenario. If, in the past 5 years, you have been arrested for a drug offense, and you apply for welfare...testing then?
On to the constitution - I agree it should be a state issue. But the question remains the same - were Colorado and Washington premature in legalization, since not enough has been established concerning intoxication levels?

Houston, we have a problem. If nobody can agree on what constitutes intoxicated, how can it be legalized?
And this leads to my major complaint. I really don’t have a complaint against marijuana. I’m fairly ambivalent. My complaint is with the MJ worshipping crowd.
Medical Marijuana - Intellectually dishonest. Plain and simple. If it really is a miracle drug, have it administered at the doctor’s office, or put in pill form (like 99% of other drugs). For every one person who legitimately feels better smoking, there are nine others joking about their wink, wink, nudge, nudge ‘prescription’. I have no respect for anybody who uses such a dishonest argument.
Legalization - I have more respect for this crowd. At least they are being honest. They want to get high, plain and simple. But this is what I can’t stand:

Any other substance on the planet, they will tell you what’s bad with it - caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, prescription drugs. And they’re right - most things have a downside. So lets discuss the pros and cons of MJ.
NOPE! There is nothing wrong with it. There can’t be anything wrong with it. Look at this thread - a guy ate a marijuana cookie and shot his wife...that’s the story. But none of the pot crowd believe it. Its just not possible to them. Now, if I told the exact same crowd that a guy took too many aspirin and shot his wife, they wouldn’t question that for a second.
That attitude is, also, intellectually dishonest. Marijuana is not a wonder drug and a cure all, with zero side effects or downside. That product is called Snake Oil.
I appreciate your answering my questions - that was intellectually honest. Notice nobody else did. Notice how many people were immediately dismissive of the original story, even though none of us know any of the details. Others on this thread were not being intellectually honest.

That's exactly what it's like in my state which has legal "medical" mj. A letter from a sheriff deputy to the newspaper a couple of years ago explained that every single "legal med. mj" grower he's ever seen grows extra for selling illegally. And most "legal" growers are out of the legal business within a few years after they get busted for illegal selling, theft often involving violence is a constant problem and so on. There were two doctors in the state giving out hundreds or maybe more "prescriotions" to anyone who claimed pain, nausea or whatever symptoms are required.
Plus, medical research has been and no doubt continues to be done to extract the medical parts so people can use that without getting intoxicated. Where are the medical mj people on that? They don't like it. They just want to get stoned legally, collect disability, and in my state, I think the state pays for their dope and pays people to grow it. Using the dwindling few of us who actually work and pay taxes to support these freaking losers.
I've even had stoners whine when I made my suggestions above (let anyone who wants it grow it for personal use only) "But suppose someone is too sick or otherwise incapable of growing it, what can that poor person do?" Can you believe that? As though getting wasted is some kind of right, like breathing.

The problem with eating it is that, first, you don't know the dose, and second, it takes a while to feel the effects. Smoking it, you see the dose and feel the effects more or less instantly and it's more or less controllable. Eating it, some people eat too much to start with because they have no reference to the potency, then when they don't feel anything 45 minutes later (or even more--a full stomach slows the uptake), they eat more. Then, two hours later, they are the babbling fools you describe. But homicidal, I don't think so.
We're aware that that's bullcrap. lol
Apparently they spell things differently in several ways.
When I was in high school I read newspapers, among other publications, to learn how to compose sentences and how to spell. Then, one could count on learning correct grammar and spelling from them. Today, not so much.
