Dont think this is a burial of Game of Thrones; it really is one of the best shows on TV right now. But the best and frustrating arent mutually exclusive, and theres a lot Game of Thrones does that it could stand to stop doing. Like, for example

I'm currently struggling through a novel just like that ('Atlas Shrugged'). You come to the end of a chapter and then it's like, What? You mean there's more? Frustrating, to say the least!
I read the books.
Watched the first season, and several minutes actually went by between copulations. Found a lot that was pretty, the stunningly beautiful dogs, the theme music. That reminds me most of the sex was doggy style. Never watched the second season.
I understood that you read the books.
I was asking if you had to do anything different to actually get through them.
I had to use a different reading strategy than I normally use.

No.
“I had to use a different reading strategy than I normally use.”
What did you do? I know some people read them by character sections rather than by sequential chapters.
IMO, George R.R. Martin writes his GoT novels like he’s writing a script for TV. You get to the end of a chapter and BAM! cliffhanger! Then off to the next character’s chapter.
Agree with you about the author.
I also read the comments after the end of the article, which showed me the real “problem” with GoT.
It is not the show, but the lazy, single-dimensional viewers, who have never read complex (normal for the times, but complex and “boring” by current popular standards) works like most of the classics of English and American literature.
“Detailed “world building” began with Tolkien?!? Bwaaahahahaha!
If you haven’t read the books then all is lost, the book had chapter titles so at least you knew where you were going next.
So who do you think caused that satisfaction?
Hah.
Your kids couldn’t be more wrong if they tried.
Maybe you should buy them the books so they can learn about plots.
I disagree.
Tyrion is going to find the one thing he has always wanted in life in Penny, and I found that most enjoyable to read and contemplate.
The "Queen of Thorns". Olenna Tyrell.
Remember "what is dead may never die". In the books there are characters who die but seem to come back. With a big assumed death at the end of the last book.
Many of my favorite episodes to date were about Dany and her ascension when she rode off with the Dathraki (sp) warrior. Not a false note in all of those scenes — just spectacular. I did grieve after the “Red Wedding,” but Peter Dinklage as the “Imp” just keeps the whole show moving, along with superb help from Queen Circe, Jamie Lannister and lesser characters such as Shae.
You just gave away who Joffrey’s murderer was. Those of us who’ve never read the books but have been watching the show did not know that yet. In the last episode that aired Joffrey died and we were having a bit of fun trying to figure out who did it:(
It is a real shame that they have to throw in the gratuitous nudity because we don’t get too many series of this genre and I do love me some fantasy, palace/throne intrigue. There are a few scenes of violence that I also think they went overboard with but I would never watch this kind of show with the kids anyways, however it’s the nudity that also makes it too uncomfortable to watch with other adults in the family.
I would consider Ned Stark a heroic character, or the potential to be. Aside from her being unable to love Jon Catlyn didn’t seem to be evil either. Also Tyrion has developed into a character I’m rooting for.
The guy who played Khal was perfect for the role. I don’t much care for the way the actress who plays Danaerys has the same look on her face all the time. She just seems too one-dimensional. Vacant. I love Peter Dinklage in this, such a great actor. I find myself really liking Jaime Lannister but then I remember that he pushed a 10 year old boy to his probable death.
