No surprise here, though. As I watched Pittsburgh play it was clear that something is wrong with that team. They have some great players but they don't look like they're built well for a playoff run, which explains all these disappointing early exits in the last few years.
Unfortunately, things are probably going to get worse before they get better. As I see it, the big problem is that they've got so much money tied up in very few players next year (something like $51M for nine players) -- which means they will have to fill the roster with some second-tier talent. And they certainly won't be able to go into the playoffs with the kind of deep bench you really need to be a solid Stanley Cup contender.
What's going to happen with Bylsma and/or Shero?
It’s good to have some different teams in there.
I wonder who those gals on the treadmill will be cheering.
There’s already talk of Bylsma being fired. Rumor mill says Crosby and Malkin didn’t like his attitude towards the end.
As for Shero, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was sent packing too.
I wonder if Billy Guerin would be a good replacement.
They couldn’t find better looking women?

The ugliest things on those treadmill chicks were their t-shirts.
It’s never good when you have divided Management, with “armed camps” of GM supporters vs. advocates for the Head Coach at the upper levels (not to mention the fan base) ...
In the case of Buffalo, they’ve been a train wreck for a long time but as much as I admired Lindy Ruff for his coaching & would’ve liked him to stay, the franchise wasn’t going to finally move on until both he and former GM Regier were gone.
As a Stars fan, I’ll be the first to say “Thanks for Lindy.”
And I loved the way in his first press conference how he handled the first question, which everyone knew would be asked.
You’re welcome ;-)
I’ve been rooting for all the ex-Pats so far (Kane being the exception this year) I’ll keep going with the Canadiens and Mesrs. Vanek & Briere to get to the Finals
Briere banking that shot off of Chara’s skate was a thing of beauty. I couldn’t feel sorry for him, the way he’d been tossing players around like rag dolls.
LOL, no love lost here for Mr. Chara ... or Lucic & the team in general, for that matter.
And on the particular bank shot, many announcers will say how it was a “fortunate bounce” off the skate; however, I think the good, veteran players can recognize when the situation presents itself and go for it.
Les Habitants du Montreal all the way! (On HNIC, they are of course the faves, as were The Crosby’s while they were still in it but I think I can tolerate the blatant favoritism for the Canadiens ;)
Latvia defeated the USA in this international tournament being held this morning. Score, 5-4
Tim Thomas was the goalkeeper. He protested one of the Latvian goals.
Article on the USA/Russia game a few days ago, NOT this morning’s game: http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey/usa-falls-to-russia-at-ice-hockey-world-championships-1.7998958
Likewise, it seems France defeated Canada as well.
from the article: “... Russia routed the United States 6-1 for its third straight victory at the ice hockey world championships.”
Putin gets another double hattrick, USA goalie 0bama pulled.../lame hockey humor
No, I don’t like Marchand, the Bruins or any Boston teams. So I was glad the Habs eliminated them in front of their own fans. Nothing makes me happier than a bummed out Boston fan. I’m also glad Chara scored the insurance goal.
I think Chara is washed up. My guess is that the Bruins shop him this off season.
Looking forward to Habs-Rangers, and will be pulling for the Canadiens.
The handshake after the Canadiens at Bruins game. That is what has me wondering. I’m not here to knock one team, perhaps in American Football, my passions would be more inflamed.
Go LA That means Home ice for Hawks. Please no McGuire and Emrick douceathon Friday
That distant boom you hear in the background is the Penguins being blown up....
That’s a shame. Bylsma seems like an excellent coach, but maybe not a good fit for that group. Meddlesome ownership might be a problem there, if the coach and GM are caught between the players and a sympathetic owner like Lemieux.
