ANAHEIM DUCKS (1) vs DALLAS STARS (4)
SAN JOSE SHARKS (2) vs LOS ANGELES KINGS (3)
I caught the Montreal-Tampa Bay series on HNIC, and the Canadiens frustrated the Lightning to no end; if they match the intensity, you’re right in that the Bruins will have their hands full in this upcoming Series.
Long ago in distant ‘yute’, my first exposure to the NHL was watching the 1970 Boston-St. Louis Finals on TV, where Bobby Orr scored to win the Cup followed by the immortal “Leap” ;)

What an absolutely crushing heartbreak for the Stars. Ducks are the better team, but it really sucks to lose that way.
A five-game drought is over as the Pens' Evgeni Malkin scores his 2nd goal in the first Period off the crossbar on the PP
as Pittsburgh leads the Blue Jackets 2-0 at the 1st Intermission in Game 6 in Columbus, looking to closeout the Series.
I dislike seeing these game 6 collapses with CBJ, for some reason I feel like we could see that in the Avalanche at Wild game as well even though both are at home.
That was a real surprise in the Anaheim/Dallas game last night. Those last second goals have happened about 4 times in all of these post-season games and I think in all cases, the team that scored last won the OT. They have all the momentum.
Still lots of time and no matter what, Columbus has played a good series, if they can just get a goal to build on now being down 3-0.
Tampa Bay got swept, but 3 of the 4 games were close. At least 1 went to OT.
Even if a good number of Montreal Canadiens fans are scalawags, that franchise has some history. They are definitely a bit like the English soccer clubs that have been around for so long, the only game in town.
Pittsburgh's Brandon Sutter converts a shorthanded goal early in the 2nd Period, then Malkin registers his Hat-trick
late in the frame to put the Pens up 4-0 by the second Intermission of Game 6 in Columbus over the Blue Jackets.
4:45 left, Pens 4 Bluejackets 3
Wild 2 Avalanche 0 in 1st.
Wow ... Almost another set of last-minute heroics here, as Columbus scores 3 unanswered goals but falls 4-3 to a determined Pittsburgh squad, ending the series. I guess the key to winning was not to sit at a 3-1 score ;)
You have to give the Blue Jackets credit, they made it an interesting match and never lost heart. Kudos to their fans too, who were very supportive & enthusiastic throughout.
Pens faded but held on for the First Round win 4-3, congrats Pens. I’ll bet you were sweatin’ that one out, Airborne.
Sutter was Pittsburgh’s MVP of the series. Hopefully he wasn’t seriously hurt. On to the next round against orange or blue laundry.
It’s great to see Columbus with a real hockey team but I will miss the cheap good seats gotten at the last minute.
I was sweating and more!
Congrats to the Columbus Bluejackets who showed they are a future threat to everyone in the NHL!
(let me know if you want on or off the ping list)

Sutter, Vitale and Gibbons are as important to the team as any first or second liner.
Hopefully they'll be back for the start of round 2 against the winner of the Flyers/Rangers series.
Nice graphic!
I’m gonna have to “borrow” that!
The Pens were on the verge of historic collapse last night ...
I won’t deny that I was worried.
Losing 2 centers didn’t help.
But Fleury kept them in it.
looks like he gave up two softies near the end, but I’m going off ESPN highlights and did not see the game.
It looks like it.
But to be fair, the lines were being thrown out on a “who’s ready to go again” style.
The bench was short and players who wouldn’t have normally been out there saw ice time.
I’m just glad it’s over and they have a chance to rest and heal some.
Top 5 plays on the NHL Network - Fleury’s knob save was # 1!
The Pens were the better team and showed it in Game 5 and most of Game 6, but the Jackets don’t give up easy. They are a very young team, and there is a lot of talent there that is just now starting to blossom. Hopefully they can keep the core of this team together for a while:
Johansen
Dubinsky
Foligno
Anisimov
Calvert
Umberger
Jenner
Wisniewski
Tyutin
Johnson
and of course, Bob
I look for next year to be a real breakout year in Columbus.
But for now, I will pull for a Blackhawks/Penguins Stanley Cup Final.
