According to Polybius, the Celts who fought on Hannibal’s side at the battle of Cannae (216 B.C.) went into battle naked. But the Romans (who fought clothed) later conquered most of the Celtic peoples (other than those in Ireland and northern Scotland), and the Germans are not Celtic.
