My daughter was looking at joining a few years back. The navy had some pretty good programs, but the Air Force seemed to be the best fit. Then she met this guy in the Army, and she’s fallen in love. I don’t have the heart to tell her the life expectancy of forward observers in a real fight.
tell her to go into something that is in demand in the civilian world. contracting , medical, emerg mgt is good. I spent 22 yrs in the AF, dirtboy. tell her to go in for 6 and then get out, the military will not be a good place for a career. retirement is changing as is medical care.
The Air Force is considered by the Marines to be the wimps of the military. Air Farce. Oh heck, EVERYONE is consider to be wimps, by the Marines!

I live in San Antonio. The Express News has published many articles over many years detailing the abuse and even sexual assaults that many male AND FEMALE recruits have endured while in Basic here at Lackland. Assume half of these stories are hyped up and sensational. Assume they are made up lies if you want.
But the truth is - this stuff happens. How many hundreds of recruits just endure the assaults and keep their mouths shut? I have to agree with so many others here when I say - DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTER ENLIST.
