Do you realize he and his mother were living out of a car during his senior year? The young man overcame tremendous adversity growing up and has become a consistent producer in the NBA, all while avoiding even a hint of controversy.
That story was just another example of The New York Times pushing an agenda. Why else would they try to damage a poor black kid who literally didn't have a pot to piss in?
What is your point?
That’s a bunch of baloney. Calipari has never been implicated for any “illegal recruiting.” In addition, this is not “Calipari’s system”, but the system put in place by the NBA and the NCAA. He’s simply one of the best at working within it.
In any event, I would prefer it be changed to require they stay at least two years, but I’m not the rulemaker.
A combination of taking games too seriously, and jealousy.
Oh, I see. Why was Pastner accepted as the new coach, then? He was Cal’s assistant.
Don’t hate the Playa, hate the game!
The BEST way to get the “one and done” rule changed? Would be for Calipari to WIN IT ALL... every year.
Cal’s IN FAVOR of changing the rule. But, till they do? He’s gonna kick your pants with it.
Don’t forget the ultimate kiss of death ... Obongo’s bracket ... I usually wait until he’s done then I pick ... ticked me off royally because he had some of my favorites ... I actually ended up with the final four and the championship game! Obongo died early on ... too bad that’s figurative and not literal!
Go UConn men!!!!!!!!!
Rather it will be UConn vs. Kentucky at 9:10PM on CBS.
Be nice to have a new fresh face winning it all tomorrow night, such as Kevin Ollie.
Go UConn, I’d rather have the team that beat us twice win it, than the team we beat three times.
Head UConn men’s coach that is.
Thank-you!
And now that they are in the championship game, and even more so if they should win it Monday night, it will be the worst thing for the college game period.
You cannot tell me that offering up your program the way UK has for the being a middle man for the NBA on the OADs does not have some corruption behind it, if not now, it will soon enough
But we know already their have been questionable actions at UK already with one recruit in that of Bledsoe and Caliparis involvement getting another recruit to resend his announcement to one program. It may not be exactly against the NCAA rules, but it sure borders on the unethical.
YOU NAILED IT! I agree on most every point you made here. Thankfully, the one and done system doesn't guarantee them anything in consecutive years. Last year, Calipari's team couldn't get out of their own way with all their playground divas. Hell, they couldn't even win one game in the NIT tournament (see: Robert Morris crushed them).
They are an NBA farm team, plain and simple, as you said. If anyone doubts it, have them look up William Sydney "Wes" Wesley (aka World Wide Wes). He's an NBA agent who always sits right behind the UK bench and helps them recruit these high profile high school kids. Nothing shady to see here, right? If anyone is a longtime UK fan, they can remember when Senior Day was a HUGE deal at UK, celebrating the loyalty a kid gave that school for four years of service. Now it's just a bus stop for six months tops before heading to the National Thug Association.
The Gators are to blame......Florida was leading UK by 15 late in the SEC Title Game, and they let them come back and almost win it...That’s where they gained the confidence that has propelled them in the tournament....If Florida wins that game going away, UK probably doesn’t even make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
