I was about 13 when the Marlins were founded. They were my favorite team. However, they are cheapskates. Miguel Cabrera, was theirs, but as soon as he started what looks to be a HOF caliber career, they let him go.
They draft a lot of great players, awesome scouts, but as soon as their young prospects want more money, they let them go.
And thus the near empty ballpark.
We got Jim Leyland from the Marlins as well. He retired from managing last year but he’s still with the Tigers organization as an advisor of some sort.
The new manager Brad Ausmus looks like he belongs on the field.
