Seriously, the cans say chunk light but it's all mush.
“Sea Kittens.”
Yep, you nailed it, that’s what you have to get
It’s the best, imho.
Solid white albacore. One of them does it in garlic oil, hard to find, think it’s Chicken Of The Sea. That’s the one I’ll buy, no other canned variety of tuna is edible in my opinion. Olive oil better than water regardless of any purported health claims. The chunk light seems to have turned into mush like the cheapest canned tuna once was, and the cheapest canned tuna looks and smells like cat food now.
I can’t be much help here. I seldom eat tuna, although on her last couple trips to the store my wife has found ahi steaks on sale. And I have never liked canned tuna. My wife will eat it, but if it were up to me it would only be fed to the cats (one of which, for some reason, refuses to eat it).
You must be buying the relabeled Kitty Treat .
Albacore tuna by ‘VitalChoice’. It’s a solid chunk of tuna - not tuna in shredded format.
I had 6 cans of Chicken of the Sea solid pack albacore. Everyone of them was mush. Even the feral cat in the back yard wouldn’t eat it.
Do a google search. Lots of people unhappy with Chicken of the Sea.

I always get albacore, not chunk light.
Starkist has beem garbage for at least a year, it is now Korean-owned and I’m sure that whatever was in the absolute last can of Starkist I’ll ever buy was not tuna at all.
A family member told me that she has no problem with the store brand of albacore, which is probably from a smaller operation and domestically produced.
lol
Watch the tv show Wicked Tuna if you want to see what it takes to catch a big tuna.
I know what you mean. When ‘spring water’ replaced oil for canning liquid tuna quality took a big hit. Fancy chunk white albacore is what you are looking for. Prepare for sticker shock, but it will be closer to what you remember than the cat food quality norm now. Its been that way for years now.
Try the solid core at Aldi’s, you’ll have to pick it apart with a fork! Makes good sandwiches, too.
I’m going to try that!
LOL! Yeah, that’s about how she is when she hears the can opener.
YES! Tuna that tastes like it did when I was a kid is hard to find, but the WalMart store tuna is the best I’ve found. Chunky and tastes like tuna used to. All else is mush or expensive(albacore) and tasteless. Get the walMart brand in oil and drain it well, you will be happy.
