Vanity: Is there a brand of canned tuna that isn't all mush?

Posted on 04/04/2014 12:01:58 PM PDT by Jeff Chandler

Seriously, the cans say chunk light but it's all mush.

Yes. Costco’s tuna, Kirkland. It is white, chunky and delicious.

Try the foil packs instead. Some may be a bit more pricey, but I have found them to be good and not as saturated with water or oil.

Probably not if you mean something more than bits and pieces. Click for images of can tuna.

Get "chunk white" instead of "chunk light".

Or you can get one of those foil pouches that have the tuna pancakes in them...

We buy Chicken of the Sea solid white albacore. It is about $4 for 12 oz can, but worth it compared to the watery/mushy ones.

Pardon me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that anything “chunk” was mush by definition? versus “solid white” or “solid light” that is.

My current favorite is “solid white”. Although I have been eating chicken salad or turkey salad of late more often.

Try Starkist chunk light Albacore. got one out the other day and had to dig it out with a fork because it would not "dump' out of the can.

Also, our store almost never has it on sale, but would be a good thing to stock up on, when on sale.

Saw the pouches at Walmart, like $1.19, get chipotle, sweet and spicy or whatever. Still, not only do they cost more in general but they don’t seem like much to eat.

Too bad, imho, canned fish just isn’t that great, I even have some Alaskan Salmon, Deming’s Sockeye and it’s not that easy to eat.

Saw some sort of more elite brand of canned Salmon at the store, $9+ and this was at the grocery store with low prices. Of course, the can wasn’t your little tuna can size but a full can size. Still.

Kirkland solid white albacore. But I can’t open a can as it turns my normally docile cat into a werekitty.
