Word For The Day, Monday, 3/31/14
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
rapacious; adj.
1. given to seizing for plunder or the satisfaction of greed. 2. inordinately greedy; predatory; extortionate: a rapacious disposition. 3. (of animals) subsisting by the capture of living prey; predacious. Synonyms ravenous, voracious, grasping; preying. "Fortunately for those who pay their court through such foibles, a fond mother, though, in pursuit of praise for her children, the most rapacious of human beings, is likewise the most credulous; her demands are exorbitant; but she will swallow any thing." Jane Austen.
Etymology: 164555; < Latin rapāci- (stem of rapāx greedy, akin to rapere to seize; see rape1 ) + -ous

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!
Here is my example with WFTD.
Rapacious Russian killers are afoot in Kiev.
No pushing at the door please!
The cat and dogs are fine. The little dog does fine with them out in the yard, they have a live and let live attitude toward each other and the cat likes to watch from the window. He is an indoor cat so they will never meet. The big dog cannot be trusted to be in the yard with them. He sees them as feather cats and wants to give chase.
I think I only missed the last couple of books, read most of them.
The news reported that the officer was called to the MRI place by employees as one of them was in there and would not let anyone else in. When the first officer got there the guy got hold of his service weapon and shot him 3 times with it...this was on the street. A second officer came along and the shooter took some shots at him, the second officer took him down with a couple of shots. End of firefight. The dead officer was an 18 year veteran of the force with children. They have not named and will not the 2nd officer. I understand he was crushed by this whole thing. The whole community is devastated. We prayed for this at Bible study last night, which is near where it all happened.
The shooter was a long time employee of the facility. Crazy.
I’m so sorry Ti - I know as a paramedic you probably know most of the police officers in town -
I don’t know the cops down there, as it is about 20 miles away, but I am sure we have a lot of mutual acquaintances. I live in the next county.
Oh I’m sorry - I confused this with your town - but still, I’m sure you have some interaction via friends and such - very sad story
