Wow.
My Dad, a two time CIB, Purple Heart and Bronze Star awardee got three inches in the local paper. A Color Guard and a bugler. There were 300 people at his funeral and we were greatful.
I have no animosity towards public figures and their families for getting more attention.
Why does this bother you so?
Probably because there are so many, unlike your father, who never got or will not get the recognition for their service and yet the media lionizes so many who have accomplished no more than others except to be related to a celebrity. Anyway it’s my opinion, why does it seem to bother so many here? It’s not like I have no sympathy for anyones loss of a loved one, I do, I just can’t fathom the the need to promote celebrity.
Why not?
Dad passed away 7+ years now. He was a marine who fought at guadalcanal & bougainville, then served the city of NY for 22 as one of its finest.
His funeral consisted of an honor guard if NYPDs finest, then at the national cemetery his guard was a phalanx of Marines. Very Nice. Mom died 5 years ago and received none of that, but she had a nice remembrance and service too.
Not a huge Beck fan, but he is a kindred spirit on so many things. I respectfully express my deepest sorrow and may his Dad Rest in Peace.
