I guess the easiest way to boost sound is to use headphones. I’ll do that when I watch this movie. Is there hardware of some kind to add to computer to boost sound or would that be buying external speakers to plug into computer some way? I’m not up on connecting outside anything to this laptop computer. It’s a fairly new computer bought in 2011, a Toshiba recommended by my computer repair guy when my Dell computer totally died.

Try to find a compressor/limiter plug-in to run the audio thru. This is a software version of the gizmos they use to make commercials louder than the program materiel. On the downside you will raise hiss and other noise at the same time. The plug-in would be loaded by the program playing the movie.
