Missing jet WAS carrying highly flammable lithium batteries: CEO of Malaysian Airlines
Daily Mail ^ | 3-21-14 | Simon Tomlinson

Malaysian Airlines today confirmed that flight MH370 had been carrying highly flammable lithium-ion batteries in its cargo hold, re-igniting speculation that a fire may have caused its disappearance.

The admission by CEO Ahmad Jauhari comes four days after he denied the aircraft was carrying any dangerous items and nearly two weeks after the plane went missing.

He said the authorities were investigating the cargo, but did not regard the batteries as hazardous - despite the law dictating they are classed as such - because they were packaged according to safety regulations.

Well, that makes sense.

The first thing you do when a fire breaks out is to turn off the transponders and turn west and fly for 4 hours.

He said this, then immediately went home with his wife, Morgan Fairchild.

Li-ion batteries normally are much more resistant to ignition than li-poly, but flame-ups CAN occur, like the notorious B-787.

The li-poly type, OTOH, can puff up and spit fire (not an actual explosion) at the drop of a hat. It is absolutely guaranteed with sustained over-charge.

IIRC, a pilot was interviewed who claimed that there was a fire on the plane, at which point the pilot did his best at maneuvering to deprive it of oxygen, then made a left hand turn toward the nearest airport. He speculated that smoke overwhelmed the interior and the plane was then on autopilot, when it flew for four hours and then into the ocean. This theory does sound plausible to me, but it may or may not be correct.

LOL! The next thing we are going to hear is the pilot wanted to keep the fire secret, broadcast ‘Good night,’ diverted course during the transition zone to Vietnam air space, and turned off ACARS and the transponder .

That theory would be plausible if the fact that the plane did the westerly turn 12 minutes BEFORE the last radio contact with the plane where the co-pilot said “Alright good night” unless the pilots were psychics and saw this supposed fire coming in a premonition this theory does not make sense..now if the turn was made AFTER the last radio contact I might be willing to believe the smoke in the cockpit theory

Yep, pilots were Nostradamus, saw the fire coming..it was a vision, a vision they saw in their heads in advance..damn, if only I could talk to them and get lotto numbers

“highly flammable lithium batteries”

First off, Lithium ion batteries are not “highly flammable”. They happen to hold a lot of energy in a small space, but so does jet fuel. For that matter, aluminum and chlorates make one hell of an explosion.

Yes, lithium ion batteries can be dangerous, but not if they are shipped properly.

Lithium batteries did not bring down the flight no matter what the lawyers and their shills will want to claim.

Every laptop and cell phone in the cabin probably had a Li-ion battery in it.

Doesn't account for the change of course.

And if you want to say there was a fire....there still wouldn't be any reason to turn off the transponder etc etc.
