Government meddling in lifestyle issues depends on the strength of the lobby as well as the strength of the evidence. The government won't say that male homosexuality is dangerous and to be discouraged, because the homosexuals are well organized.

I am so sick of all this “health” garbage. Exactly what it is - garbage. They don’t really know what is “good” or “bad” unless it has poison. They keep changing their minds.

Not only don’t I really believe stuff about the fat in foods, but I don’t really believe fat people are more likely to have XXX and WWWW and YYY. I DO believe being fat mechanically causes problems (my DH’s knees, and MIL), but I don’t think there is really any evidence being fat causes more heart problems, diabetes, etc than being thin.

Part of this is because I know there are people who just are genetically fat, and it’s not just that they eat poorly or whatever. If lots of people are naturally fat, yet don’t die at age 35, then it must not be the worst thing in the world. Similarly, lots of thin people who did everything “right” up and die suddenly. If there is any link, it is probably a negligible advantage to be on the thin side.

I think it’s just a prejudice campaign against fat people. Yes, they don’t look good, but don’t try to make it out to be about “health”.

Sorry for the slight tangent.

But..... but.... but...... it’s science! And like Global Warming, the science is settled. That T-bone steak is bad for the ticker and you should only eat lettuce! So is the NY Slimes entertaining the option the science in fat intake is not settled after all?????? Welcome to the Flat Earth Society NY Times!

“Eat this! Don’t eat that!” “Oh wait, it’s OK to eat that! Don’t eat this anymore!” If the doctors can’t get their story straight, who can be surprised that the Gore-bull warming people aren’t taken seriously?

Alcohol’s bad. No, a glass a day is OK.
Coffee’s bad. No, coffee’s OK.
Eggs are bad. No, eggs are OK.
Fat’s bad. No, fat’s OK.
Ice age is coming. No, global warming is coming.

Seems like I see something in all this...

Many of us have long been told that saturated fat, the type found in meat, butter and cheese, causes heart disease.

One more bit of liberal elite stupidity bites the dust...

Woody Allen’s ‘Sleepers’ has him going 200 years into the future finding everybody smoking cigarettes. He said “are you crazy, do you know this will kill you.” “No, actually a hundred ago it was found that it was actually good for you”.

“It’s the high carbohydrate or sugary diet that should be the focus of dietary guidelines,” he said. “If anything is driving your low-density lipoproteins in a more adverse way, it’s carbohydrates.”

Federal Government Bastards.

But I repeat myself.

Bingo! Just compare the increase in obesity with the increase in per capita consumption of sugar.

But I thought the science was settled!

A governmental science entity can’t have had an ulterior motive can they? (infested with ‘diet for a small planet’ co-religionists)

This low fat diet and goal of low fats in our blood may be the biggest scam ever foisted on Americans.

There may be some validity in families, where there are early deaths due to cardiac events and high so called undesirable fats in the patients blood stream.

This low fat bs was pushed in its early days supposedly to prevent early heart attacks/stroke. Now it is being pushed for those of us in our 70’s and 80’s, even to those of us with zero genetic history of early heart attacks, with parents/grandparents and siblings living to their late 70’s, 80’s an 90’s.

How many of us know of a relative or friend in their 70’s to 80’s being put on a low fat diet and poisoned by the anti statin drugs, developing alzheimer’s or some senior mental impairment.

If you know someone in a fairly high position in a hospital or clinical lab, after a glass or two of wine, ask them if they are seeing increases of cancers in the those being treated with the statin lowering drugs.

Eat a balanced diet, enjoy your glass of wine or two or beer and go on enjoyable walks. Have a core of good friends and hold your family with love. Even if you don’t live longer, you will be happier.
