Today's feature is a classic western comedy epic that could be described as a combination of "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" meets "F-Troop". Amusing and politically incorrect fun that pokes fun at just about every group of the time period(U.S. Cavalry, American Indians, temperance suffragettes, Republican businessmen, Democratic Teamsters workers, etc.) and probably couldn't be made today because of that. Directed by John Sturges("The Magnificent Seven", "The Great Escape") with a great music score by Elmer Bernstein("The Ten Commandments")

Burt Lancaster? No thanks - "I'm swimming home."
(Every since I saw him in that stupid movie, I've always though he was an idiot.)

Never seen the movie but have the title song on a CD of music from great Western shows and films. It’s a great, rousing song!
Blazing Saddles was only 8 years behind this movie.
Seth McFarlane has a new movie coming out (this summer?) called “A Million Ways to Die in the West.” It actually looks pretty funny. Unfortunately, I read that Bill Maher may be in it, so that’s bound to understandably turn folks away.

I rented this a few years ago from Netflix. I didn’t really like it much, but the music was the best part.

Spoiler alert:
The barrels of booze bubble back up at the end.
