Some addresses are like this with both http and www http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/post_article
and some are like this

Security is at medium in IE and free republic is an always allow site.
Perhaps you don't love me any more?
as soon as I get my answer I will request deletion of this post.
I dunno.
No problems here. Did you run a virus scan?

I would guess cookies are disabled in your browser. Cookies are used to keep you logged in in many cases.

I don’t know. I can open up Free Republic in as many tabs as I want...the all show as “www.freerepublic.com/etc/etc in the navigation pane.
But I use Firefox as my browser since IMHO Internet Exployer sucks. Try Firefox!
I had something similar happen with one of my computers tho it did it with every site not just FR. It just kept opening more and more with every click.
I found I could make it quit for a while by closing my browser (firefox). I am not computer savvy and could never find out what was happening. After a couple of weeks it quit doing it.
I clean out my cookies weekly, but I make an exception for a few sites like FR.
Today, for some reason, I had to log in fresh this morning. I don’t know the reason, but that hasn’t happened to me in a long time.
I suspect some kind of problem.
It’s not you...it’s me.
C) I don’t think I love you any more.
Don’t tell anyone, but I saw your headline, and for the first twenty seconds, I found myself looking around my room, making sure all my ‘windows’ were evenly opened. A light (finally!) went on, that you meant computer windows. Brain freeze!
P.S. My windows ARE evenly opened!
I would suggest that your computer hates you ... have you abused the keyboard or mouse? Have you hurled snide comments at your computer when you make a mistake and try to blame the computer?
Better off using Firefox
Only time I need to log in is on a new computer. Sorry I can’t give you a solution.
When you log in, there is a selector window for “convenience.” Check it out the next time you have to do the login thing. You should select something to the “most convenient” end of the spectrum. The “most secure” selection will auto-logout a lot.
Another thing is to check cookies. You may need to clear them for this domain (freerepublic.com).
Good luck.
Because all of us who have suffered through the flu season are beginning to hate chicken soup. Here drink some chicken soup it will make your throat feel better. Here eat some chicken soup it will settle your stomach. Here take some chicken soup it will replenish your liquids. You are lucky you weren’t banned. Maybe by mid-summer we will love you again.
“... in IE” cue Meatloaf
PROBLEM #1
Use Firefox, end of problems.
