Why would there HAVE to be one. I don’t know anybody with a sat phone, they’re really expensive and only useful if you regularly find your very far into nowhere.

The Air France flight in 2009 is the only relevant one of the five and it was found five days later.
EMP would have taken everything out. Engines and hydraulics as well. It would have dropped where it was.

While passengers were sleeping cabin was slowly depressurized at high altitude, passengers are incapacitated or ultimately die from lack of 02. Thus why nobody tries to call out, all on board plane phones switched off, cell jammers may have been brought aboard.
ROP can get simplistically devious with simple common materials.
Why would anyone on that flight have an Iridium phone? The only people I know with those are yachtsmen, and I travel internationally a couple times a month.

The hijacking begins with BOTH transponders being turned off, 14 minutes apart. I'm speculating on the state of all the passengers and their inability to communicate by whatever means possible. Or were they not aware of anything unusual during the flight?
If I was to steal a jumbo jet I would not be so complacent upon believing that philosophy. Cover any possibility the Evil Satan USA has some form of satellite or Predator drone nearby that can intercept even a simple cell phone call.
